The volume display used to be green with the adjust lines yellow....now they are blue with the adjust lines red...this is with all the functions.....i try to manually adjust colors but still have a slight red tint in the picture? Even the animation doesnt show the true colrs...what has happened?? is there a master code or reset or is the set about to expire? It is only about 3 or 4 years old...
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Your described problem is as you suspected, the green is missing. This is a common failure and is technically an easy/quick repair. Almost always, the culprit would be a cold solder or a faulty color drive transistor/IC. They would be located on the small squarish PCB (printed circuit board) at the very rear of the tube. Of course, worst case scenario would be a faulty CRT (picture tube), but that would be least likely.
Corrective measure would then be initially re-soldering above describe solder joints and/or replacing faulty transistor/IC.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
