Switched to MAC - have EOS40D and SX100 - will not download SX100
We just switched to a Mac. It seems we could download the EOS 40D and the PS SX-100IS with the same software.
Installed Canon EOS Digital Solutions DIsk Ver 17.1 (that came with 40D) and downloaded 40D pictures to Mac ok. (It has EOS Utility 2.3)
Did not install Image Browser - since already has good image display in Mac.
Then connected SX-100 to same USB - it brings up EOS Utility but will not download. Only the 'Monitor Folder' icon is active - as if there is no camera connected.
Can I use the same EOS Utility to download SX100 - or do I need to Install the CD that came w/SX-100 (EOS Utility 1.1)??
Can BOTH run on same computer??

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D.
Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not
possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or
re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after
the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a
language that is different from the actual language setting.

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.
Take out memory card, and connect it to a Windows computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer. Download this camera photo recovery software http://www.asoftech.com/apr/ Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.
Hi. Good Camera... Not being funny.. But do you have the instruction manual. If not first try resetting the camera. Once done, if you can live without live view don`t bother setting it up.
How to reset:-
-set the mode to manual
-press menu, scroll to the third yellow box with the spanner icon.
-scroll to Clear all camera settings, choose clear and confirm your choice.
When you are shooting make sure your lens is switched in AF mode.
Try this first and get back to me.
Check for clean lens to body gold contacts. Take the lens off the camera. Look at the gold contacts that are in the body and on the lens. Many times, it's a simple process of rubbing a pencil eraser on these to remove dirt/film on them to allow proper contact. BE CAREFUL not to allow eraser crumbs to fall in the camera body. You can tip the opening slightly downward while you're cleaning... a lens brush can help remove any crumbs too Let me know if it clears up your error. K
