Question about Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver

1 Answer

I am trying to put in multiple destinations for the same trip. When I try to put in my second destination it keeps going back to my home site not my first destination. It starts the trip for my second destination, not from my first destination, but from my home site. Trying to do consecutive legs of a trip. I have a Garmin 255W. Thanks

The Nuvi you have does not support multiple destinations in a route. you can have 1 destination and 1 via point. So if you are going to a destination and you need to add a stop in the route, you can add the 2nd point to go to and then continue to the original destination.

How to set multiple destinations?

Some garmin satnavs allow you to save routes which have multiple destinations. The 265WT does not so the only way to set it for multiple destinations is to use via points. First press WHERE To and enter your last destination. Press GO and then while that is active pres MENU and WHERE TO again. Enter your second last destination and press GO. It will ask if you want this to be a new destination or a VIA point. Select VIA point. Continue to add other destinations in the same way with the destinations nearest to the end going in first and the closest to the start going last.

It's not ideal especially as it cannot be saved for future use but unfortunately for some strange reason Garmin do not include the option to store routes on all their satnavs.

Hi I recently purchased a garmin nuvi 1410 and tried programming several sites in. however when i left one site and wanted to navigate onto the next, it kept trying to bring me back to the previous site...

Hi, there are 2 possible solutions to your problem.
1. Press WHERE TO and enter your first address. Instead of pressing GO press SAVE, at the bottom of the screen. This will save the site in your FAVOURITES folder. Repeat for each destination. Then when you want to go to one of these addresses just press WHERE TO then press FAVOURITES and select the address from it. If you're going to use these addresses fairly often then this is probably the best solution. When you reach your destination sometimes the satnav doesn't realise you have as, for example, you could be on the wrong side of the street to where it expects you to be or the satnav could be out by a few yards. When this happens it tries to get you to go back. To stop this press MENU at the bottom of the screen and then press STOP. (The STOP icon only appears while the satnav is trying to take you to a location) Having done this you can then select your next destination.

2. The second option for solving your problem is to enter your last destination first and press GO. Then enter your second last and when you press GO again it will ask you if you want to set this as a VIA point. Select YES. Add each destination in turn making them all VIA points. When you do this the satnav will take you to the last via point first and then each of the others on the way to your destination. The advantage of this method is that you don't have to set destinations when you're traveling. As soon as you reach one it adjusts to take you to the next. The disadvantages are that if you want to go to the same destinations again you need to re-enter all the information again. Also if the satnav thinks you have not reached your via point, when you have, pressing STOP cancels the whole route.

Entering the places into FAVOURITES is probably the best option. Note once they're in FAVOURITES you can rename them if you wish or you can delete them. You'll find details of how to do so on page 12 and 13 of the manual available in Adobe Reader format from http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/nuvi_1100_1200_1300_1400_OM.pdf

Was just given a TomTom and car adappter to use on my trip from MI to MD. I've never used a GPS and no manual was included how to program it from start to final destination

The TomTom only needs for you to enter your destination address. Once that's in, you're ready to go. Along your route you can tap the center of the screen to find POINTS OF INTEREST such as FOOD, LODGING, etc...but will retain destination info 'til either cleared or changed to new destination.

To enter your destination, tap center of screen. There you choose house address, business address or city's center. If you choose street address screen opens to:keyboard. Type in destination State, ie; Maryland. Once you've typed state, hit DONE in bottom right corner. The screen then goes to CITY. Type in destination city then hit done again. Follow the same steps for STREET NAME & HOUSE #. Click DONE & CONTINUE as prompted. TomTom will then target your location and you're ready to hit the road. It will show you your distance and time (ETA). It will also show you the speed limit where you are and the actual speed you are going.

When you pull over for gas, food, lodging, shopping, sight-seeing or whatever, it will automatically account for this and will continuously update your coordinates to get you back to the highway/road you need to be on. And when you're ready to come back to MI all you have to do is hit the home icon and it will automatically map your trip back.(Home is - or should be - set to the home address of the owner of the GPS).

All-in-All it is user friendly and very simple to use.

If you need additional info, please don't hesitate to ask.

I hope this info was helpful to you. Good Luck!
Have a great trip and drive safely. :-)

Why does my gps ask me if I want to continue to my final destination via the address I just entered?

This usually occurs if you enter a second destination after you entered the first. For instance, if you press "Home" on the unit, and then manually enter a second destination, it will ask if you want to go to the second destination via Home. This is a nice feature if you are stopping briefly at one place, and then going on to the second destination.

My Garmin is stuck on my last destination.

Your Garmin's Home Location has been changed.
Solution: You must reset your Home Location.
Go to Main Menu.
Select: Where to?
Select: My Locations.
Select: Set Home.
(Message: A Home Location Already Exists. Do you want to change this location?)
A. If you are at your home location, select: Yes, use my current location.
B. If you are NOT at your home location, select: Yes, enter my Address. Enter your Home address.
Press "Save".

How to program a destination

In general, once you key in an address and then select a route, the name/route will be saved in "recent destinations." If you want to use that destination, just select it. If you want to add it to "Favorites", then select "Add Favorite" and all your recent destinations will appear. Select the one you want and rename it: E.g., instead of "220 W. Walnut St." rename it "Grandma's House" and it is set.
