SOURCE: My Pro-form 980 CS will not start. I plug the key

Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. This should get you into calibration mode. Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test. If you cannot get into calibration or if the EPROM test fails then the upper console will have to be replaced.
If you get pass to this point then proceed with the calibrating the incline and speed.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
Be careful the treadmill will run at full speed in the next mode DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT.Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window).
If the top speed of the treadmill does not match the displayed speed on the computer console, adjust the max speed potentiometer (pot) on the motor control board. This is the board that the red and black motor wires connect directly into in the motor area. The Max Speed pot is clearly labeled
The max speed potentiometer is a small square with a mobile center and is located in one corner of the board and is labeled MAX SPD. It is near the harness that carries the speed signal labeled H,W,L. Using a small insulated screwdriver adjust this potentiometer clockwise to speed up and counter-clockwise to slow down the max speed of the treadmill. A tiny turn of this potentiometer will make a big difference in speed so be careful when making adjustments.
It is not important to get the speed set exactly at the max speed of the treadmill but do make sure to get the speed within .2 MPH of the max speed of the treadmill. For instance if the max speed of the treadmill is 10 MPH, make sure to have the speed set between 9.8 MPH and 10.2 MPH. Some models have a 12 MPH top speed, so please check your manual if you aren’t sure.
After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing. Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.

SOURCE: I have the pro-form 980 cs and the screen displays

Dear Friend:
Thank you by your request.

I will try to help you inmediately:

nstructions Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Allen wrenches (included with the Proform 980 and Proform 980CS)
  1. Power
    • 1 Ensure that the treadmill is plugged into a grounded outlet using the correct surge suppressor. Use a UL 1449 suppressor listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). It must be rated for 15 amps and 120 volts AC. Secure the services of an electrician if the outlet is not grounded, or move the Proform treadmill near a grounded outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
    • 2 Insert the safety key fully into the display. Treadmills with keys are designed not to turn on without the safety key in place.
    • 3 Find the circuit breaker on the front of the frame and make sure it is not tripped. The circuit breaker is a vertical switch on the 98CS and a horizontal switch on the 980 Interactive Trainer. Press it to the "Reset" position, which will be labeled.
    Reed Switch
    • 1 Unplug the treadmill and remove the safety key.
    • 2 Move the upright base of the treadmill down with the help of another person and lift the uprights so that you can get to the underside of the console. Use a Phillips screwdriver with at least a 5-inch shaft to remove the screws. There are five hood screws on the 980 Interactive trainer and four screws on the 980CS.
    • 3 Remove the motor hood to get to the small reed switch by pivoting the hood off the frame. Find the reed switch and magnet, which are on the left side of the pulley for both models.
    • 4 Turn the pulley with your hand until the reed switch aligns with the magnet. There should be 1/8-inch gap between the two. Fix the distance so that it is 1/8 inch by loosening the reed switch screw and sliding it to the correct distance. Tighten the screw.
    • 5 Reverse the directions to put the hood back on and the treadmill upright in the original position.
    Optic Sensor
    • 1 Unplug the treadmill, take out the key and remove the hood cover.
    • 2 Locate the optic disc and optic sensors. The optic disc is the only circular disc set between two optic sensors.
    • 3 Spin the disc with your hand. It must spin without hitting either of the sensors. Loosen the adjustment bolts that hold the switches in place with the included Allen wrench and adjust them to ensure they do not interfere with the discs' ability to spin. Tighten the bolts and replace the hood

Thank you in advance, sincerely. Blessing.

Video jitter on youtube on power pc

Try using the browser Google Chrome, it has flash built in and it is a bit faster.
If this doesn't work, you'll have to kill some programs to get more processing power. Press and hold the command key, and then tap tab while still holding command to cycle through your running programs. Let go to stop on one you kill, and then press Command + q to kill it. Do this with as many programs as you can to get better performance, you can always start them up again later.
If none of this works, you may need to upgrade your graphics card...sorry.

How do I test the starter switch on a 2001 Honda Shadow 750 ACE Deluxe

Maybe I am missing somethtg here ... you press the start switch and one of 2 things happens - the bike starts or it doesn't. If it does, your start switch is definitely good. If it doesn't ... well there are a couple things to consider. Are you in gear? Will not start in gear unless the clutch is pulled in. But, if the clutch is pulled in and you are in gear and the side stand is down, it will not start. So, if you move the side stand up, you are in gear and you have the clutch pulled in and it doesn't start ... well ... could be the key is not on (silly but true) and/or the 'kill switch" may be in the off position causing your bike to not start. If the clutch is pulled in, the side stand is up and you are in neutral and the kill switch is in the run position and the key is on - (or some other very similar arrangement as I have described) your Shadow should start. Nothing here has ruled out a bad switch nor, for that matter, a good switch.

You bike will still not start - so what else to look at/for. How is the battery? Have you checked it recently? Your battery MIGHT still be the original in which case I would be suspect of it being 10 years old. Maybe you or a previous owner has replaced it ... still, have you checked it? You will find it under the seat.

Battery good and still will not start? Find the start solenoid. With a volt meter, measure the voltage at each of the large terminals. One shold be 12 volts (battery side) the other should be zero volts (starter side). You will check the smaller terminals later . Key Off? No volts on smaller terms. With everything in a normal start condition (key on, bike in neutral, kill switch in run position), measure the voiltage on the other large terminal on the start solenoid. Should be zero. Press the start button. Do you get voltage? No voltage = the solenoid is either not receiving power to energise or it is energised but not making connection.

What happens is when you turn on the key you supply power to potentially anything that can be turned on. When you press the start button, you should be powering the start solenoid (an electric operated switch) That should allow power to flow to the starter and start the bike. If all that is happening, I would suspect the starter. If everything is OK but it doesn't start, suspect the solenoid and lastly ... the switch. I think I would consider jumping power directly to the starter to see if that actually runs before looking at the switch. The actual start switch is pretty tuff compared to other parts of the system.

Let me know what happens ... good luck. I think you will find something simple.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com
