First is your hard disk a removable one/external hard drive?i was formatting my hp(dv2000tu)recovary partion - 6ea4669.png if you receive this image, then it probably means you have a SATA hard drive, and your bios is set to Raid/SATA mode.

First, go to your bios settings, then change SATA mode into IDE. This should be under something like "On-Chip SATA".

Or, you can go to http://www.nliteos.com then download the program to install the needed drivers to the xp installation CD.

Hope this helps, and please rate ^_^

When i install windows xp harddisk could not found and red light has blinking what can i do

hi ajmalnizar_n,

Try to check if your harddisk is detectable in Bios if so,
The problem is in the installation of windows xp. install a new copy
of Xp. Reformat the disk using ntfs then create your partion if you like.

Hope this helps, Feedbacks appreciated
Thx

Samsung40 gb harddisk unable to format (SP0411N). But i can read old data. I cant delete anything. cannot delete partition also

Try formatting / partitioning the drive with windows xp setup / installation cd. If you are trying to format or delete partition in windows and its your c: drive you will not be able to do that.

I can't make format, partions or install windows.

Hi shlmughni,

If you're trying to format this drive, and you have nothing on it you want, then I would suggest that you use a windows 98 boot disk HERE. And first thing you need to do is load dos by putting the floppy disk in your drive A: after you create it from that site of course. Then allow dos to boot up. I'd opt for the allow cd rom option when it asks. After you get a dos prompt A: type in fdisk. Go to the display partions section and see what your drive is partioned as? Once you find that out, I'd delete the partion from the main menu choice delete partion. After that create a new partion from the main menu. Creating a new Dos partion will allow you to choose the size of the partion you want, then after that it will create your new Dos partion. When that's done, exit fdisk, and go to the A: prompt and type in format c: This will format the drive all over again, and give you a clean fresh starting point in which you install your OS.

Good Luck

HP Desktop

Hi
The same thing happened to me also with one pc I have running windows vista ultimate and freeBSD.
Delete all partitions, format to NTFS and do a clean install of windows, and for a 80GB drive just use one partition for the whole drive and install windows on that drive, set the bios to boot from CD and during install windows will use the whole drive as 1 physical drive. One Partition and you should get about 72+GB MIN. You will not get a full 80gb due to the way windblows measures a mb= 1000b rather than 1024b and also special hidden files, recycle bin, drive info, and partition info, boot sector etc.

Barracuda hard disk 80gb

More than likely, since you say you did a DOS install of the OS, you did not set the FDISK parameters to set your primary drive. Insert the DOS CD you used to format the system. Boot to a DOS prompt and run the FDISK command. It should have an option, I believe it is number 2 or 3 to "Set primary drive". Select your hard disk 0 as this drive and you should be fine at rhat point.
