I believe it has something to do with contacts with the earphones, if they are worn, it will not make a good contact to tell the external speakers to shut off...i hope this helps...maybe purchase new earphones...cheaper than replacing itouch....

How can I plug earphones into this - which plug do you use?

Unless it has a plug for earphones it will not be an easy task. Most tvs only have line out (no volume control) or speaker out (rare) to plug in external speakers. Speaker outputs would be much to high to try earphones with. Line out will probably work but with no volume control unless you have it built into your earphones. You will also need an adapter to use the earphones with the line out.

No sound from my stereo but powers on and can see EQ is moving. But when I plug my headphones in i get sound just nothing from the Speakers

Hi,
Your problem is in between the speakers and your earphone jack but it has a hight chance that the fault is in the earphone jack.
Since when you plug your headseat, sound is coming out, this is an indication that your output IC is working. When you plug the headset the line will cut-off through your main speaker to hear the sound in the earphone only. But if you unplug the headset the contact will back to the main speaker. The problem is, the lead is dirty due to dust. You can spray it using the contact cleaner. I will not advice you to spray any penetrating oil but contact cleaner only. If the symptom is still there then this is the time to replaced the earphone jack with a new one.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for using fixya.

My itouch earphone jack creates static in earphones.

sounds like the typical ipod and ipod touch common situation. It seems to be the dreaded headphone jack on the bottom or top of the device has gone belly up. You can either take it to your local apple store or look online and search your problem and see if anyone else has the same issues you have and see what can be done. You can send it to ipodsquad.com to get repairs or check your local apple store.

Apple itouch 8 GIG earphones dont work properly

try getting new head phones if the new head phones dont work then it is the jack and u need to get it replaced. If it is the new 2nd gen ipod (has speakers on the bottom) u aren't going to want to check the plug it is dangerous to the ipod to take off the rear or front plate because u can damage the screen or wires and u will have even more things to fix.

I touch loses suond in one speaker or in earbuds, is it the connection ? how do I fix it , can I take the itouch apart and check the connection ?

Hi there,

Do not open up the ipod yourself. This will void your warrenty instantly.

it sounds like a bad connection. Try your earphones on your computer. And try other earphones or speakers on your ipod. This way you can work out if it is a problem with the earphones or the ipod.

If it is the ipod, you will need to bring it in for service.

if you wish to return the ipod for service, you can find a local apple reseller by calling apple on 1-800-MY-APPLE

Or you can visit an apple retail store by visiting http://www.apple.com/retail/

Hope this helps.

Nathan.
