Try to get those pressurized air guns and blow it in there. for a quick check try to blow into the tray lightly. this could be caused by dust build up. Microsoft doesn't cover this so if that don't work open it up and test the connection in the back of the drive to see if it's loose. if its not that. open up the drive and get a q-tip and dip it in alcohol then clean the laser eye with it lighly

Ninth Close tray
Tenth Play you game!
this is a problem the microsoft has been working on ... remove any disc from the tray> unplug it from all power the plug it back in> open the disc tray .. leave it open for a little while like 10-15 seconds .. then put the game in and it should work .. if it does not however you have one of the defected disc trays and you'll need to get it repaired by microsoft .. i know its not what you want to hear but hey at least they will fix it free of charge =]
i had the same problem. listen to your xbox cd rom and if you hear it start up and kinda skip or make a weird stopping sound then your disc drive/ cd-rom is wearing out. either send it in or do what i did and start by just giving the center to the center left above your cd-rom a nice few taps in a row while its spinning before it stops. fairly good knocks on the case will help it. i ended up really hittin mine a lot of time in row after about a month. sometimes it will put rings on your games thought but they buff out. i even took it apart but theres not much you can do
Try opening the disk tray with the 360 off.
Push a paper clip into 1 of these holes in your 360. It will pop the tray out. Grab the tray pull it out all the way. Put a game in, leave it open! Then turn your 360 on see if it boots the game.
"Your Disk tray might be going bad. It might be fixable but I will have to try it out on a bad drive which iI dont have at this time."
