Question about LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

Bottom freezer door/drawer won't close all the way on one side.

I have an LG French Door refrigerator with bottom drawer freezer. We just noticed that one side of the freezer drawer is not closing all the way and the food inside is frosty. If you push on the one side it will close, but it won't stay all the way closed without being pushed on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Remove all the food from the freezer and then the drawer from the cabinet. Now using a silicone based lubricant, lube the tracks up real well. Be sure to clean the tracks first if gunked up. Make sure nothing small fell out of the basket over time and is laying on the floor in the rear of the freezer section. Once done, you should be fine.

The problem is that the plastic drawer runner has collapsed ie the runner top surface has collapsedleaving a hole at the front of the runner. The drawer sinks into this hole and cannot be closed.

My freezer door will not shut completely. It stops about 3" from sealing making it useless.

Water leaking into bottom of refrigerator section

Make sure you dry everything in the freezer when you have the door open and remove ice. It won't be a leak it will simply be the warm air inside the freezer that has turned into condensation. Double check the seal around the door to see if it curled up as that could be letting warm in and cold out giving same results.

Frost on back wall of freezer

There is a door that is not closing 100% of the time. There is warm moist air entering the fridge and building up on the back wall.

Make sure all doors are closing. Sometime the bottom door will close on one side but not the other.

Good Luck.

We have the bottom drawer freezer, top french doors, 3 months old, freezer will not shut all the way and now after door open beep has gone off for an hour the whole unit has gone dark

Make sure nothing has fallen behind the freezer drawer or is hitting the top of the freezer to prevent it from closing. Also check that the tilt open front is in the closed position. If nothing is blocking the drawer the gear wheels that support it may not be in the right position. See Owners Manual for instructions about removing/reinstalling the drawer. When you get the drawer to close you may have to unplug the power cord for 30+ seconds to get the unit to reset and restart.

My freezer is frosting...there is snow all over

In my case with constant snow and frost build-up in my bottom drawer GE freezer, it was because the drawer never properly closed. As one user noted, "there is no adjustment." However, there are "catches" at the rear of the drawer glides and in my case one needed adjustment because it was preventing the drawer from remaining closed tightly. SEE PHOTOS. The photos show many items removed, but to make this repair, you only need a butter knife to pop out the black plastic catch mechanisms at the back end of the drawer glides, and only if you can see that the spring is not properly positioned. Bottom drawer does not properly close

Okay, I fixed it for now. The design for this bottom freezer drawer is not good. What happened was most likely that my son slammed the door, and it bounced and was slightly open. Overnight, ice started to form all over the compartment, including inside the drawer guides. Some ice was probably obstructing the drawer glide from sliding shut.

What I did, not thinking this was the solution, was to prop chairs against the drawer to close it while I searched for answers on the Internet. In the meantime, some of this ice must have refrozen in the closed position (due to the weight of the chairs). When I went to check it later, I had a little trouble opening the drawer. I gave it a hard yank and some small frost flew off, as I opened the drawer.

It was not easy sliding it due to the frost. I then moved it out and in until it felt smooth, and finally closed the drawer and it stayed in the shut position.

Kids are instructed to close the drawer gently and visually check that it is sealed. There is also an air passage between the refrigerator unit and the freezer so that when you close the double french doors, some air pushed to the freezer section and momentarily pops the drawer open. You should make sure that the drawer closes before leaving the kitchen. If you are on vacation, prop chairs to make sure both the freezer drawer and the french doors stay closed. This is important if you're in an earthquake area as a small tremor could open the doors and you'll get a fire when the lights stay on and burn through the wiring (as others have noted).
