Nintendo ds, can not erase data message

My son just purchased a used game. When we insert it in the DS it says "can not erase data, turn power off and reinsert the game card." We can not seem to get past this screen and I have tried the game in our other kids's DS's . The game is Super Mario Bros. if that matters at all.

Where did you buy this game? Is it from a reliable source? There's been known fake DS games that don't work. And usually the case is the game shows a message "can not access saved data. please turn of power and re-insert game". This is actually my first time with a case where it can't erase the data. Try contacting the previous owner.

When I insert any game on my Nintendo DS Lite I get an error message "Could not load data.Turn the power OFF and re-insert the Game Card". Doing this doesn't fix the problem.

Can't erase previous owner data on pre-owned DS games

Take the battery out for one minute Reinsert And it automatticly Askes Fro a new user name etc.

Defecttive Slot 1
Look inside with a litte light. You will almost certainly see bend pins. You son has almost certain play with someting sharp inside the connector.
Slot1 must be replaced

Corupted data on Nintendo DS Lite

is it definitely "any" game? Reason is that a lot of games are now suffering from flat batteries, the symptom of which is what you're saying, corrupt save data.

The only solution is to change the battery if thats the case.

Nintendo DS message... "Unable to load data. Turn the power off and resinsert the Game Card."

Well maybe when you turn it on, it might be on manual mode. To switch it to auto mode, Press options then press the wrench and then find auto or manual mode and then, switch it to auto mode. Save the options and then it should play the game. If it doesn't work, blow into the DS game and then the DS game slot.
