My touchpad mouse on my HP dv71247cl is skipping

Hi there...I've only had my HP dv71247cl for a week, but from day one I have noticed the mousepad is very ''skippy''. I have used laptops for years, and realize that sometimes you can touch the pad with another finger without realizing it which causes the cursor to sort of skip to another position. This is what is happening, but I am sure I am not touching the pad with more than one fingertip. Is there a way to calibrate the mouse?

SOURCE: Keyboard Cursor Jumping

I have been having the same problem for some time now with my Acer laptop and windows vista.
What worked for me was changing a Mouse setting in the Control Panel.
Go to Control Panel -> Mouse. Then go to the "Tapping" tab and make sure that the "Tap off when typing" box is Checked

SOURCE: Laptop touch pad doesn't work properly

Here is what I did to get the touchpad to start working again. My laptop is Gateway and a couple years old, running Windows Vista.

1. Start>Control Panel
2. Double-click on Mouse icon (or button, depending on how you're systems set up).
3. When a the Mouse Properties window pops up, choose the Device Settings tab.
4. Click on the Settings... button.
5. A new window pops up and on the right side there is a list of options - choose Tapping.
6. Once clicked, there is a check box that allows you to Enable Tapping.
7. Click OK to close out your windows and the tapping option should be enabled on your touchpad.

Hopefully this helps.

Hi, i hav a probook 4510s laptop & i cant get the mouse pad to work... when the lappy is starting up, in the left hand top corner is says - no mouse detected. please help!

If this is a recent occurance, shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in, push the on/off button and do a System Restore to a date before this problem. Perhaps the TouchPad driver is in error. You can try a external USB mouse to troubleshoot the problem in Device Manager to verify the driver or device isn't in error. I think HP TouchPad software is Synaptics Pointing Device, check your your Tray Notification Area for the icon, right click, select Pointing Device Properties. Or Control Panel, select Mouse.

Laptop cursor won't stop clicking

If you are using an external mouse maybe thats whats clicking
Otherwise you could popup the keyboard up and disconnect mousepad ribbon(the small one) and see what this does for you

Hi how to switch on mouse pad?

there's a button just above the mousepad but usually the problem isn't the button it's the driver or the mousepad is broken. use a usb mouse (they're really cheap) and run windows update until there's nothing left to update. if that doesn't work it's either a loose connection or a faulty touchpad. they aren't the most difficult laptops to repair but if yu're a novide i'd pay someone to do it

Hello,

I recommend going to Acer's support site and downloading the updated drivers for the mouse/touchpad. This should restore your functions.

Disable mousepad

hi,
try the Fn+F7 combo, the F7 is usually assigned to the touchpad and is indicated by an icon that's relevant.

This works on most notebooks to turn on or off the touchpad.

. Press F2 or F10 (it varies) to enter your bios setup screens. In these pages is a setting for touch pad only, mouse only or touch pad and mouse or serial. You might check that.

My dell wireless mouse works intermittingly. Starts skipping and then works for a while. Changed battery and cleaned mousepad no improvement.

At the back of the Mouse, there will be small flushed 'reset' button. Press that. It resets and reconfigures the connection.

Have a nice day :)

not difficult..with right tools and patience..the touchpad is part of the upper assembly, and requires that the bottom be removed. When I do this, it takes around an hour.
