Normal 0 See section C. Windows Live Messenger in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family and friends so they have there computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

Ok i can see the other person they can't see me i can also hear them and they can hear me though i can't be seen

1.Check that your webcam is switched on and is connected to your computer.

2.Close all programs that may be using the webcam. These include video editing software, instant messengers (such as Yahoo Messenger or Windows Live Messenger), browsers, Windows Explorer, and even some websites.

3.Make sure that both you and the person you are video calling are using the latest version of Skype, Yahoo Messenger..

4.Make sure that you have the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can get the latest version of DirectX by updating Windows with the latest service packs and updates. For Windows XP, you can download it here.

5.Check that your webcam is listed in Device Manager
Do one of the following:
Windows 7: Click the Windows button and select Control Panel.
Click Hardware and Sound and under Devices and Printers select Device Manager.
Click the little arrow beside Imaging Devices.Windows Vista: Open the Start menu and select Control Panel.
Open System and Maintenance and click Device Manager.Windows XP:Open the Start menu and select Control Panel. Open System and in the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.Under Imaging devices, check that you webcam is listed

12_9_2011_1_37_52_am.jpg

If it's not listed, reinstall the drivers for your webcam.
A driver is the program you install with the webcam which makes it work on your computer. (Some webcams use preinstalled drivers so you may not have had to install one.) Make sure you have the most recent drivers for your webcam by downloading them from the webcam manufacturer's website.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on this issue .And try to include more information in your request ...like camera model # , operating system ( windows xp ,vista ,7, etc ...) , and the software you are using to chat online ..(yahoo messenger, skype , facebook,or any other platform ...)

I installed the camera using the cd and when tyring to use it on messenger, it says that no webcam was found. How can I get it to work ?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you may want to try:
- Make sure you have installed the drivers for your Webcam following the procedures listed in the Installation section of your manual. - Make sure the USB connector for your Webcam is properly and securely connected to an available USB 2.0 port on your computer. - Make sure the "Preview" option is checked and enabled under Options in the AMCAP software. - If the problem still occurs; exit the AMCAP software (or the application you are attempting to use with your Webcam), re-connect your Webcam to your computer, and then start the AMCAP software again (or the application you are attempting to use with your Webcam) - If the problem still occurs; please check and make sure that you have properly configured the video and audio sources of the program that you are attempting to use with your Webcam. - Restart your computer and try to use the webcam with your messenger program

My logitech webcam won't work in msn messenger....in messenger when i try to make a video call...it says I need to buy or install a webcam? what's the deal? heeeelp

Hi Marilyn,

Have you installed the Logitech Quickcam program? If you did then open the application and select the instant messenger(i.e. MSN, SKype, Yahoo) that you will be using the camera.

If you have note yet installed the Logitech Quickcam application then I suggest you disconnect the webcam and run the software first.

Hi i have a logitech quickcam 500 when i connect to yahoo messenger ican see people im calling but they get a still picture of me and the thumbnail picture of me on my screen turns white thank...

Make sure the webcam functions in the logitech Toolbar using the Video setting in the Quickcam menu
Check you have at least version 9 of the Microsoft DirectX program installed
Check your settings out
Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.

COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER

You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/webcam/mstacamtest.html

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.

INTERNET CONNECTION
Webcam connected
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

TESTING
> Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start. You should be rewarded at this stage with your happy smiling face.

SET WEBCAM DEFAULT
With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam Broadcast > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK
Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts

AUDIO
Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK

PERMISSION OPTIONS
> Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your default equipment selections and who you will allow to view you > Apply > OK

Webcam will not link to Windows live messenger?

First check the Device Manager to make sure the webcam is not in error.
Then check if it works properly with another (local) webcam program (e.g. SplitCam or something like it).
Check the configuration of live messenger to make sure your webcam is selected as the video input source.

My camera is blurry every time i open up a video chat

Theres a few ways you could try to rotate the lense and see if itll fix just by normal focusing. Though the program you installed in the CD you can set the defaults which should also come with a "Zeroing" as it were. Try those 2 and see if they work, also check for new updated drivers just incase. If those fail then i would uninstall and reinstall
