Maytag LDE8414RCM, dryer knocks and rumbles while running. Still heats and dries clothes for the moment, but the knocking and rumbling is getting worse. Thanks

Here's some added info. I turned the drum manually while listening closely. The rumbling noise is still there and seems to be coming from below the drum. The rumbling continues while I turn and even continues for a second after I stop the drum from turning.

That rumbling noise may be due to the fan impeller being loose on its shaft, or because of a worn rear support roller. If the machine is still drying, it may be taking longer than usual but you haven't noticed. This is a good sign it's the fan. There are a number of sites with good detailed procedures for getting at and replacing parts, as well as selling the parts you need (of course they would!). One of them is here:

If this solution gets you on the way to quiet drying, please take a moment to rate it. Thanks for asking here!

That would tell me definitely fan blade, then. The fan is driven by the same motor that's turning the belt. So when you turn the drum, it also moves the fan, and because it's loose on the shaft the fan continues to move a while after you stop turning. The fan is under the cover you see below the drum, in front of the motor.

Maytag Neptune front loading electric dryer rumbles. I changed the belt and rollers, but the problem persists. What can it be?

Check the blower wheel, A lot of time the blower wheel gets bored out where it connects to the motor shaft and basically just knocks around. A good test is to start the dryer, wait for the rumbling to begin then open the door. If the blower wheel indeed is the problem, the sound will continue for a brief moment after the door opens. I posted a link below to help, hope its close since I didn't have a model number. #15 is what your looking for in your machine.

My Maytag LDE412 dryer makes a loud rumbling noise when drying clothes. I have changed the idler pulley but this did not fix the problem. Will I need to change the drum rollers or could I just oil them?

You could try oiling them. I recommend Zoomspout oil. It is used in the HVAC community. It is heat resistance and non-flammable, will not dissipate easily. themobilian_419.jpgGet it at Ace hardware.

My dryer rumbles when it is spinning. But it also

The drum support rollers are worn. This will cause loose belt tension and a rumbling sound. You will need to pull the drum to find the rollers at the lower back of the drum. Check the roller shafts for wear and replace them at the same time as the rollers if needed. Check the belt and tensioner for wear before reassembly. This should fix ya...

Have someone change the bearing, it sounds like it has busted on ya. The rumbling sounds like the ball bearings in the bearing have failed.

Dryer makes rumbling noise intermittently

It sounds like a faulty roller under the drum. Need to pop the top of the dryer, then remove the front -- you'll probably easily spot the faulty part.

My Maytag dryer is rumbling when it starts up. But, it is drying OK.

Check for loose 'tumblers' inside the drum. I have heard of some cases of these coming loose and causing knocking in the drum.
