The bearing blocks must be oriented correctly. Take the belt off and put the brush in place. Once you have it in, mark the surface that is visible with a dot of white out, nail polish or marker, depending on the color of the block. Remove the brush & put it back in, using your marks as reference. The bearing blocks are not square, they are slight rectangles.

Have you accidentally switched off the beater bar via the dial on the head? Some models have a 'hard floors' and a 'carpets' setting (which disengages/engages the beater bar).

The beater bar on my dyson dc 28 animal sweeper is not engaging at all what could the problem be with this

Hi Judi,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC28. You haven't mentioned in your question whether your machine is displaying any indicator lights - these are designed to help you diagnose what the issue might be.

Generally, if the brush bar won't rotate, it may be because the brush bar is set too low for the type of carpet pile you're cleaning. Try raising it to the next available level to see if this helps. It's also important to keep the brush bar clear of any threads or hair, and to check the cleaner head is free of anything that could jam the brush bar - the video I've attached shows the correct way to do this.

Finally, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, or if you have the height selector set to 'Bare floors'. Make sure you have the machine reclined into the vacuuming position, and set to an appropriate carpet height setting once you've turned the vacuum on.

I hope this helps - if you find you're unable to reset the machine using the information I've provided here, please email your contact details and serial number to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com. One of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible to take you through some further diagnostic checks. If a repair is needed, we'll be happy to confirm whether this is covered under the machine's 5-year warrranty.

Best wishes,

Jack

Dyson beater bar won't spin

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

he first check is to ensure that the brush control dial is set to the correct centre position when the machnie is locked upright. When you release the head the dial should move forward to the on position and the brush bar should start turning.

We would also recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are wrapped around the brush bar.

Full details on these checks can be found in our Support section online at www.dyson.com.

If you still require help with your machine, please do not hesitate to contact our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

Kind regards
Darran

Beater bar is slipping on belt on my Dyson DC17 animal

Beater bar was turning intermittently. No noise. Removed bar, disassembled ends and removed lots of junk. Replaced, and works like new, so far.

Belt replacement

It's a fairly simple job. The belt just loops over the end of the beater bar and motor shaft. Need to take the cover off the beater bar housing to get to it. Most difficult part is stretching the belt while putting the beater bar back in the housing.
