Campbell Hausfeld 3 1/2 framing nailer bends the nails

Campbell Hausfeld 3 1/2" framing nailer refurbished from Canadian Tire:

Never did work. It leaves the nails sticking out about 3/4" and bends them over. I've adjusted it as far as possible to no avail. Is there any solution that anyone knows? The warranty, if it had one, is over I'm sure.

It is not the best brand but, it should work for a few projects. Increase the air flow and make sure it is lubercated. It is designed to shoot nails into soft wood, like pine. It could be a o-ring blown or damaged, which is easy and inexpensive to repair. Good luck. Phil.

The tool is being run with restricted air. Change fittings to industrial free fkow and make sure you have 3/8 hose.

Where can I have my nailer repaired

Hi, these tools need servicing from time to time,. You can easily do this yourself, but you must purchase the correct oil for your tool. Once oiled it should start working properly again.

I've had a similar problem and found a nail had broken and lodged itself in the nail housing causing the driver to get stuck forward.

Trouble finding 3 1/2 clipped head nails 34 degrees

You can use the same nails that are used for these nailers: Porter Cable FC 350A, Hitachi NR83AA2, Senco FramePro 701XP, 751XP ,Ridgid R350CHA, DeWalt D51822, D51823, and Paslode F-3505. Make sure you purchase the correct shank nail. Nail length should be 2"- 3 1/2" and the shank should be .113" - .131". I have purchased nails for my FC350 at Home Depot and they are relatively inexpensive. Though you have to buy a case of like 2000 or 4000. The brand of nail is Grip Rite that I purchased. Any questions please post.

When the trigger is pulled the framing nailer discharges a little air but does not activate.

First, the obvious things -- Is there enough air pressure? (90 psi) Is the gun jammed? Has it been oiled recently? Usually it is one of these when that happens.

When pulling trigger air blows but does not fire

This problem can happen because of several reasons.
Most likely the driver stuck, and not able to move.

First with the tool disconnected from the air supply check to see if there any nails jammed in the nose piece.

If the driver is stuck down, try to push it up. Will it move?

If there are no problems visible at this point you will have to open the tool up, and see if anything looks out of place.

To examine the inside of the tool, unscrew the 4 bolts on the cap of the tool. Gently remove the cap, it may be spring loaded but once the bolts are loosened, there is no reason to be afraid of the parts springing out. Be careful not to let the parts that are in the head cap fall out. Also take care not to rip the gasket. Keep in mind, the less parts inside that you disturb the better so be careful.

If the piston driver does move. Does it move freely?

Sometimes when a driver hits a very hard knot in the wood, or if a nail is hit. The thin driver may bend. If it is moving but with resistance. Use a thin object to push the driver upward from the nose. It will come out of the head cap end.

Check to see if the driver is straight and square to the piston. If it is bent, you may need to replace it. Sometimes you may be able to bend it back enough to allow the piston driver to move freely.

If this solves your problem. To reassemble:

Replace the driver in the correct position. Replace the gasket if it is loose. If parts came out of the head cap, reposition them into the cap. Replace the head cap on to the tool. Replace the bolts, stagger as you tighten them to depress spring loaded parts evenly.

Hook the tool up to your air supply check for air leaks, and fire the tool.

If the driver does not move: Examine to see what is seizing the piston and reply back.

I hope this works!
