A thin line also appears on the photocopy.why and what is the solution?

The page goes thro the feeder mechanism and passes over a thin strip of glass; maybe about 1/4 inch wide and runs across the fax under the cover where the paper is fed. You probably have dirt, corrector fluid or something like that on the glass this will cause the problem of a black line down the page to appear at the other end when you send a fax...and also to appear on your pages when you make a copy...open up the machine and clean the glass...cant help any more as you didnt state make or model.

Line appears down right side of paper when copy is made?

If the line only appears when making copies but recieved faxes come out ok, then the scanner glass needs to be cleaned. Water and a lint free cloth should do the trick.

Black line down left side of sheet, if i'm copying a page that is and i can't get rid of it no matter what i try i've changed the drum and the toner and still get a line down the whole sheet

If the received fax's are ok and there is no line; and you only get the line when you make a copy....I assume the people you send to are also getting the black line down the page,?? then the problem is in the optics...favorite is some kind of dirt, glue, or corrector fluid on the glass that the original passes over when you make the copy.

A Solid black line down the left side of the page

It could be 2 things...

1. Your scanner glass is dirty...open the doc feeder and clean the glass. probably Wite-Out.

2. A segment of your scanner assembly lamp is burned out. Not good, uneconomical to repair.

Lines on Outgoing Faxes and Copies from Feeder Is there a way to clean the doc feeder scanner? I have a big line going down the center of the page when I copy or fax from there. Thanks!

Hello,

If you lift the top of the unit so that you can see the scanner glass and clean the surface on the left side and the very end of the scanner you should be ok. The sheet feeder runs the pages through the feeder and down to the glass at the end then back to the feeder and out to the stack of pages. If you try to scan anything with wet ink, highlighter, marker, etc some may come off on the glass and cause the lines to appear. Just use windows on a paper towel, not sprayed on the unit.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Canon mx850, when printing an incoming fax I have lines down the page

If the lines also appear when you make copies, it is the cartridge; if not, the lines are coming with the fax image.

Faxing up or down

Look at the hopper. It will almost certainly have a little graphic on it to tell you which way up the document goes.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with lines of writing on, the paper goes in print side up.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with one corner folded over, and lines of writing visible only on the turned over corner, then it goes in print side down.

If you can't find the graphic, then experiment: Take a blank sheet of paper. Write "Up" on one side and "Down" on the other then stick it into the machine so the writing is telling the truth. Most fax machines have a copy mode - use this to see which side of the paper the machine reads (if you can't get it to copy, fax your page to somebody and get them to phone back to tell you which side of the page they've received).

Panasonic Panafax UF-885 - Heavy lined marks down side of paper

First print a report to see if the lines appear without using the scanner. If this is the case clean the charge wire. If you pin it down to the scanner, it is probably a poor solder joint on the cis unit. Take it out and run a hot soldering iron over all the joints on the reverse side of the cis.
