It has electronic ignition. no pilot light.. it uses a hot surface ignitor to light the burners. this device gets red hot (just like looking down into your electric toaster). this hot cherry red device lights your burners

How do you light the furnace of a goodman ez 1625

We have not lit pilot lights ourselves since 1978 when they outlawed standing pilots in Ca for furnaces. We have electronic ignitions of spark oror hot surface ignition, neither of which can be manually lit.
Do you get any fan action if you flip the fan on from auto?if so, you have power and 24v control power too, I would start there.

I have a Goodman forced air heating system in my attic that's only about 3 years old and I believe the pilot light went out last night in a storm. My problem is that I can't locate the pilot in the unit...

Marc, look for where the gas line enters the furnace and remove the panel adjacent to it. That should gibe you access to the pilot light. Also, look for a pilot access door, near where the gas line enters the furnace. The gas line will either be 1/2" flexible copper tubing. 1/2" black iron pine or 1/2" vinyl coated flexible stainless steel. Look for the lighting instructions inside or on the side of the unit.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

My pilot light went out so i turned off the

Make sure the blower access panels are on firmly. There is a safety switch on most gas furnaces that will prevent operation in the event the blower access panel is not on or loosened. Also make sure a power switch (sometimes looks like a light switch) was not accidentally left "off". :-)

I hope you find this to be very helpful moving forward.
:-)

If the blower access panel is not the problem, let us know and we'll dig deeper. :-)

Check the reservoir that your condensate lines connect to. I flushed mine out under hot water and that corrected the problem.

Finding Pilot light on Goodman Model caf024a2a. Cannot seem to find the pilot light...The blower works but no heat.

i think the ca # is for the cooling coil unit - the heater should start with gmXXXXX - if your unit is fairly new - the pilot light electronically when thermostat calls for heat the unit will not light if the burner door is open

My Goodman GPG1324 won't start up on the heat. Is there a pilot light that can go out? We had a new gas water heater installed this spring.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat2.gif sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the ignitor. The ignitor will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the ignitor gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the ignitor does not energize (bad control, bad ignitor), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not lite (dirty pilot), the burner does not lite (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

Most newer furnaces will have a diagnostic center or control built into the control module. You may be able to view it as it is running thru a small viewing port. Some models will require the removal of an access panel prior to finding it. On the reverse of the access panel, there will be a diagnostic chart that will aide you in understanding any error code recorded (usually a blinking light).

Blower works but no heat

If in fact you have the above listed furnace, you do not have a pilot but electronic ignition. You will need to remove the front cover on the furnace, tape down the door safety switch and then have someone help you by turning up your thermostat to a very high setting. Watch and listen inside the furnace. There should be some blinking going on at the control board followed by a small blower fan starting up. Then after 10-15 seconds there should be a click followed by an orange glow viewed thru the viewing window to the burner section. In a few seconds the gas valve should click and the burners will ignite. There is a safety switch that will sense flame and then keep the gas going to the burners. If it does not sense it, it will shut it off within 10 seconds. If all is well so far, your blower will turn on in about 90 seconds after flame. There is a diagnostic code chart on the back side of the access door if you get an error code (blinking) on the control board.

Always check little things like air filter, condensate drain and broken or loose wires.
