Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Furnace starting Lennox furnace model G6OUHV(X) series. Furnace would not start heating cycle unless I ran thermostrat temmp. setting up and down. Most times it would than start heat cycle. If not I would shut main power switch on furnace, wait a few seconds and then the furnace would start the heating cycle. I suspected the thermostat so beofre purchasing a new one I installed the old from my privious Lexxon. It now seems worse than ever. I either move the set points up and down (sometimes it works) or I again shut down the main power supply to the furnace most times it will start the heating cycle. Before calling in for repair and paying for somethings I may or may not need does anone have a hint at the issue?

Need heat anticipator setting for Lennox G40DF (X) Series furnace

It should be on the data panel on the furnace It should match the current draw of the gas valve. If you are changing to a new thermostat, the old one should reflect what the setting is.

Lennox pulse 21 furnace - nothing runs on but control board tries

you will need to verify voltage from the board to the inducer. If you have the installtion manual there is a flow chart for the sequence of operation of the furnace.
The basic sequence is:
1. thermostat calls for heat
2. inducer motor starts and runs for a pre-set amount of time
3. the pressure switch closes and allows for ignition trial
4. ignition is proved back to the board allowing the system to operate.

Verify 120VAC to the inducer motor upon call for heat from stat, if you have 120 at the leads that connect to the inducer and it does not start , the motor is faulty. If the inducer starts use a voltmeter across the pressure switch terminals, a voltage reading of 0 VAC will verify contact closure and ignition should occur.

The pulse furnace was under a factory recall due to breaches in the heat exchanger, unfortunately for you, the Lennox Corp. has ended the program that allowed for an allowance / furnace for replacement. To test the heat exchanger a special kit is required from lennox that will verify integrity of the heat exchanger. (If the heat exchanger seal has been comrimised the pressure switch will not prove and the igniton sequence will be interupted and cause the system to go into "lock-out" mode).I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear. Hope this helps, please list as "very helpful" if it did

Lennox furnace 17 yeanrs old. flame comes on and the shuts down sometimes right away some times in a few minutes. We have the furnace go down to 58 at night. It takes all day to get back to 67.

Sounds like a dirty flame sensor.
Also 9 degrees is a large swing to recover. Most specialist will advise no more than a 5 degree set back, otherwise recovery time eliminates any savings you may achieve.

The bearings are bad. You need to replace the motor. Motor cost $75 to $125. Labor is on avg. $150 to $400 with an decent A/C Company . You can try to oil it but its not recommend by Lennox. That furnace at the time they build it was top of the line. Good Luck.

Gas furnace short cycling. checked by experts no solution

This is tough one. If you have an older mercury type thermostat, behind the cover theirs a small copper pointer that points to some numbers. This is your heat anticapator. This setting has to match your milliamp draw of all the controls on your furnace. If set to low it over heats and fools the thermostat into thinking its satisfied. Move the point to a higher setting in little increments. Hope this works for you. Can't help with the vibration without hearing it.
