VAX vacuum stops working after about five minuits use then I have to wait an hour before it will work again

If it will do that 10 times in a row, it isn't the battery. The most likely cause is overheating. Take it in to a Vacuum Cleaner service centre.

Filter need cleaning

Most vacuums have thermal protection on the motor that will shut it off if it gets too hot. If you can turn it off, wait 10-15 minutes, and it works when you turn it back on, that's what is going on. Now, the motor shouldn't normally get that hot, so your next challenge is finding out why. Check for any blockages in the air flow or cooling vents, and if the motor also powers something like a beater bar, make certain that it turns relatively freely.

All vacuums generate heat and some have automatic cut off switches when the vacuum does overheat. When this happens the manufacturer does not want you to just turn it back on, they want you to know there was a problem and to let it cool down. They often do this with a restart button. Having to press a restart button is supposed to make you think a bit more about the problem and, perhaps, let the motor cool down before restarting the vacuum. The button is often small and red.

before it stopped working did it smell like burnt rubber at all if so its the belt

I have an infinity nv29 that stopped working while I was vacuuming. According to the manual I was supposed to unplug it for about 45 minutes and then try it again. I waited for over an hour and tried it again and it still won't turn on. Any suggestions?

its clogged my vax does that burning smell when it gets clogged up thats for the five minutes before it overheats and stops
