SOURCE: Items sometimes freeze on refrigerator side of unit - model GSS25LGMA

It is most likely a bad damper motor.  This is where the cool air comes out into the fridge section.  On this model it is a fairly common problem and comes a whole assembly.  The part # is WR49X10091 and will cost anywhere from $100 to $122.  Knowing this model I would bet this is your problem.  If the damper is bad and stuck open cold air will just keep blowing in.  It is suppose to open and close based on the temp setting.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Check the thermostat, to make sure that it is working properly. The theremostat is a long wire in the top of the freezer up near the fan. If that is bad it will not let your freezer cool correctly

SOURCE: refrigerator not cooling

You model if the ARB1950C has a defrost timer inside the fresh food compartment and behind the temperature control panel. Need to see if you can manualy turn the timer clockwise until the compressor stops. During that time of 25 minutes the freezer should be in defrost. I believe your timer needs replaced based on how you explained what is happening. The part number for your timer is 67001036 and can be found at the links below. If it stays longer that 25 minutes then it's sticking in the defrost section of the defrost timer and will need to be replaced. If your refrigerator does not restart after about 25 minutes then slowly turn the timer through the opening in the plastic cover. There may be a plug covering the hole to make the hole not so visible. If you should have problems fell free to let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

If the freezer is not freezing. I am guessing that the refrigerator is not cold also. Here is link to an Amana Refrigerator Not Freezing. You will need to narrow down parts that are working and are not working. I would first pull the refrigerator out to make sure that the compressor and the condenser fan are running(the condencer fan motor runs to cool the compressor down). This is a link to a GE refrigerator condenser fan motor problem. The compressor and condenser fan motor are in the same place. This can give an idea at least where it is at. Make sure that the evaporator fan motor in the freezer is running also. Make sure that the rear freezer wall is not iced over. This can be a defrost problem. See what a defrost problem is HERE. If your unit is sitting there with the lights on but you hear no noise from any fan motor or your compressor. Your unit may be in a defrost mode. Locate your defrost timer. It looks as tho it is either located in the front behind the kick plate or in the back by the compressor. Here is a link to your units diagrams http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Amana-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-SQD23VW-P1315302WW/1268/0165000/P9060266/00011?componentDescription=&brandDescription=&searchTerm= or http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Amana-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-SQD23VWP1315302WW/1268/0165000?searchedModel=sqd23vw&blt=11 . I have some problem with my AMANA BX20ML Model REFIGERATOR

You may have a bad condensor fan motor or paper may have gotten pulled under the fridge and jammed the fan blade. The energy switch will not help with cooling it only controls exterior moisture.

I called Amana and found the "sealed systems" are still under warranty. It cost me $85 for a service call and the fridge is working. The problem was a plugged "capillary line."

Mullion heater connection for Amana 84" Integrated bottom mount refer model B136CAR3 mfg P1318402W. I need to hook up the mullion heater that is under the freezer, component P/N 12401301. But I cannot find the mullion heater connection point. According to the specs it's installed in the foam and not wired from the factory and is for service purposes. The reason for this is that the water from the defrost cycle re-freezes and clogs the drain hole. Eventually the ice gets almost an inch thick and it's SOLID. The freezer drawer cannot open, so I have to thaw it all out and pry it open. I've done this dozens of times over the years! The service tech never figured it out. But with help of my boat-refer-expert brother we found the solution at the high level. Devil is in the details. According to the instructions: make a slit and peel back the white vinyl harness sleeve that goes to the water valve, pull out two wires (black and white) that aren't connected to anything (yet). Then "locate the mullion heater leads at the left side of the cabinet and connect to the back and white leads". Then Wrap vinyl sleeve with electrical tape to seal the slit. OOOOOKAY.... I found the unconnected leads in the harness that goes to the ice maker water valve. They have male bullet style plugs and clips (a little corroded) but I cannot find anywhere to connect them... Is left side of the cabinet as viewed from the front or back? The main harness is on the left rear area. And if I make the slit long enough (which is very difficult, then the wires could make it back there. If I only could find where the mullion heater's connectors come out. Of course the wiring diagram only shows the mullion wiring as optional and not connected to anything. I really do not want to lay this 500lb (at least) beast on it's side. It already fell on me and my daughter, but a countertop and pallets save us. This refer has been nothing but a pain to deal with ever since I bought in 2001. I don't want to get rid of it, since it has custom wood panels that go with our kitchen, and I fell on hard times (due to illness) and cannot afford a new one. It fixed many things on it already. Such as the problem where the relays weren't soldered properly onto the main logic board, which fixed the non-defrosting problem and the freezer fan not working. But now the drain hole plugs with ice. So I read that many freezers have a 5W to 20W heater that runs all the time to keep the hole from freezing. Especially if water gets in the insulation under the floor of the freezer. Anyway, can anyone tell me how to find the connections to the mullion heater? Is it in the outside-rear channel up back of the refer? it's pop-riveted on. Thanks! Scott
