Question about Denon AVR-1600 Receiver

Open Question

Front panel switches dont work

I have a similar Denon receiver and the front panel switches dont work. This occured after high wind and the electricity kept going out. It is still usable and I turn it on and off with a power strip. The volume and balance controls still function. I cant switch between sources and it is stuck on CD input. I am constatly changing connections between CD and DVD, and TV. I cant use my phono becuase the CD input doesnt have the required preamp. My only solution is the repair shop, but I hate to be without my receiver that long.

SOURCE: Denon 4308

ok sounds simple you ran the lines threw the tv instead all lines should be ran threw the sterio

see once you turn tv off this cuts the outputs out so now no sound will happen
your sterio should be equipted to take inputs of tv
you want everything to be inputed threw receiver thats why they call it a receiver the outputs on tv goto inputs on receiver
you need to redo your wireing so that this which i described is correct again

SOURCE: Connection/configuration issue: I have a Denon

Just confirming my understanding of your connections :

1). The DVD1800BD output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVD-in HDMI.
2). The DVD/VHS recorder output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVR-in HDMI.
3). The DVD/VHS recorder input (S-video and L/R Audio) is connected to AVR3808's DVR-out(SVideo and L/R Audio).
Right?

What other inputs have been connect to your AVR3808?
Does the recorder have Component Video inputs?

Please also connect DVD1800BD's output(Component video, S-Video and L/R Audio) to AVR3808s' DVD-in similar inputs and try recording onto your recorder.

Actually, its possible that you may be having a HDMI HDCP communication issue(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) with the source product (DVD1800BD). First check with the source equipment manufacturer for any updates to their products.

If HDMI video is not passing through your AVR3808, you can connect it thru the alternate connection method I have mentioned above.

If the connections/recording still does not happen with the added anolog cables, then let me know , we can trouble shoot it further.
I hope the above helps.

Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

SOURCE: No system configration display on AVR3300 since moving.

Make sure the two switches on the remote are all of the way to left most position before you try using the SYSTEM SETUP button - if the AVR is going into SETUP, the LCD display should be saying "SYSTEM SETUP". (I think that model does - most do).  also make sure that the Composite or S-Video on the TV's input 1 work from something else like a VCR, DVD player, ETC. rule out the TV and the cable first.

SOURCE: Denon receiver AVR-3300: Unstable source selection

Very important you have run system set up menu it configures your receiver with inputs analog or digital, speaker size, input, room correction etc Different input modes can be selected for the different input sources.
The selected input modes for the separate input sources are stored in
the memory.
q AUTO (auto mode)
In this mode, the types of signals being input to the digital and
analog input jacks for the selected input source are detected and
the program in the AVR-3300’s surround decoder is selected
automatically upon playback. This mode can be selected for all
input sources other than PHONO, MD/TAPE and TUNER.
The presence or absence of digital signals is detected, the signals
input to the digital input jacks are identified and decoding and
playback are performed automatically in DTS, Dolby Digital or PCM
(2 channel stereo) format. If no digital signal is being input, the
analog input jacks are selected.
w PCM (exclusive PCM signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when PCM signals are
being input.
e DTS (exclusive DTS signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when DTS signals are
being input.
r ANALOG (exclusive analog audio signal playback mode)
The signals input to the analog input jacks are decoded and played.
t EXT. IN (external decoder input jack selection mode)
The signals being input to the external decoder input jacks are
played without passing through the surround circuitry Your remote is searching for inputs because you did not properly run system set up!!! Here is a link to your manual [PDF] AVR-3300/1 3.3E*

SOURCE: how do i connect phono with built in preamp to

Hello,

A phono preamplifier (preamp) connects to a turntable to boost the audio signal from a record so it can be processed on newer audio-video receivers for playback. New AV receivers may not have a dedicated set of turntable jacks. Instead, AV receivers accept the line-level signal from CD players and amplifiers, which does not require equalization or a significant power boost. Turntables need extra amplification, which is why a preamp is needed to work with receivers that do not have a dedicated set of turntable jacks. Standard stereo cables are needed for the connection.

Instructions and what use need to fix it up.

  • 2 sets of stereo cables with a pair of 1/4-inch plugs on each end
  1. Connect the white and red plugs on each end of a stereo cable from the left and right audio output jacks on the turntable to the left and right audio input jacks on the back of the preamp.
  2. Unscrew the "GRND" ("Ground") knob on the back of the preamp, then wrap the end of the single black wire on the back of the turntable to the metal post and tighten the "GRND" knob to secure the wire. This prevents the low-frequency hum from the turntable cartridge from interfering with the music.
  3. Plug a second set of stereo cables from the left and right audio output jacks on the back of the preamp to a set of input jacks on the back of an AV receiver. Any pair of available jacks will work for the connection; just remember which set of jacks is connected to the preamp.
  4. Set the component selector control on the receiver to the set of jacks that connect to the preamp. For example, if the cable from the preamp is connected to the jacks labeled "Tape 1" or "Auxiliary," dial the selector knob on the receiver or press the receiver remote control button for "Tape 1" or "Auxiliary" to activate the connection.

Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

How can I connect a subwoofer to this device (denon pma-520) http://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/denon/pma-520.shtml?destination=node%2F14208

The only safe way to do this us to connect the sub to one of the other speaker outputs using a "speaker selector" switch. For example, you would go out of the receivers left speaker output, into the selector switch then out of the selector switch into the sub and the left speaker. There really is no other way.

Carefully examine the front panel indicators for status of switches you DON'T want active.

HOW can i connect this ross model eq r15s to my avr687 denon rece

Treat each EQ (or any processor) as as Tape Deck and place it on its own Tape loop on the Denon. Tape deck(s) can attach to external processors because they always have tape loops to replace the one they use.

Rule of Thumb: OUT's go to IN's.

You can have as many processors as you want. I have five.

You can serialize processors if they would logically be used together or you could get a dbx-200 or dbx-400 Program Route Selector which provides connections and switching facilities for 3 processors and 3 tape decks but uses only one tape loop on the receiver.

Individual processors can be engaged or disabled, and the whole mess can be placed in the record OR the playback end of the chain - all via front panel switches. Very versatile.

Denon 1508- no sound but smoke.

perhaps u might consider going to a(n) (unauthorised) repair centre. just check with folks around u or maybe audio forums within your area. authorised agent doesn't always mean the best. i suspect they may have used reconditioned components.
