To Get free broadcasts you will need to 1) have an antenna and 2) run the Channel Scan or Auto-TUne program. Any antenna will work - Rabbit ears etc. Once connected you need to go to setup and run the channel scan - it will find the digital channels in your area and load them into the database. You can get an antenna at Radio Shack, Meijer, Kmart etc. any place they sell TV's. Like I said even the old Rabbit Ear antennas work fine for Digital TV.
where did you buy the tv, might not the same broadcast signal in your location. by the way have you been tried to have manual fine tune of any local channel or auto search so you can get available channel in the area.
Keyboard issues and answers: A problem that is more common than most people think is anissue with buttons on the controlkeyboards of modern TV sets. Recently for whatever reason I have seen more questionsabout this so I have composed this answer and solution for these kinds ofproblems. It can be any button on the set-channel up/down or volume updown-you name it. The symptoms are the same: channel will scan up or down andwill not stop-remote control has no effect on this---It can be channel, volume,or even input or menu if the set has those up front or on the side of the set. All these push controls have something in common-beneatheach is a tiny momentary push switch-when pushed with the plastic button itperforms a specific task (vol up or down etc.). What happens is the afflicted switch beneath the plasticbutton is bad-when released it is supposed to stop its function but does not. Keyboard or button controlled features have PRIORITY over the remote control, hence the remote will not stop this fromhappening. Both the remote and thekeyboard go to the microprocessor in the set but keyboard is first in line. How to resolve this issue? Someone needs to get at the tiny pc board with the buttonsand locate the one associated with the issue (ie sound or channel etc) andunsolder that switch from the board-usually just two pins (may be more formounting only purposes) and then see if set does not have the issue with switchout of the circuit. For the TECH minded with the board out test here theswitches with a ohm meter set to high resistance-any reading with button notpressed means a bad switch-seen ones that read 5,000 plus ohms-it may benecessary to unsolder more than one switch to locate the offender here but an open reading with switch not pressed is therule. I have taken the time to compose this answer as some do notunderstand what is happening in these types of situations---No magic wand orsmoke and mirrors here-have to disable the offending switch to know. The beauty (in my view) of this kind of problem is if found, you really do not have to replace anypart-just operate the set with the remote with one button that no longerfunctions on the set itself-who could ask for more?
Go into your menu and navigate to find Closed Caption then turn it off. That should do it!!!! Read your manual also, it's possible you might have POP picture in which it displays multiple channels when you change it. That feature should also be in your manual.
What you have to do it go to the TV Menu and go to channel. Then go to channel scan and do one of those. THe problem is that is just doesnt know where to look for channels, but a quick scan will fix that.
