According to the user guide you should have access to recovery utilities by hitting the F10 key during boot. From what I read that section of the bios also allows you to do data backup and recovery (may require the Sony Recovery Discs).

Just in case you need it - here is a link which will allow you to contact Sony for recovery discs for your machine.

At power on, enter the bios (usually by tapping a function key like Tab or Del or F2) and change the boot device order to have the CD drive first. Put the disc in the disc drive. Save and continue. Now, you may get a message asking you to "press any key to boot to the CD". Touch any key, and the reload should start.

My dell dimension hard disk drive 1 or 2 is not found

If the video you made was a little less bouncy and up on end I could actually read the words on the screen to help you better! It appears (as best I can tell from almost no information) that the drives or drive was mistakenly formatted. You may have to reload the computer with the complete operating system and anything else Dell gave you.

How to remove virus from your computer

Prevention is much easier and simpler than removal - especially in light of some of the more recent viri that have been developed. If you are not particularly computer savvy, I suggest sending / taking the unit to someone who can scan the computer for you, remove the infection and install some anti-virus software to reduce the likelihood of further infections. Let me know if you don't have someone you can hire to do this for you.

Need drivers, reloading xp. No disks available. Can't locate p/n to get the correct drivers from Gateway.

Hopefully you have not tried to reload XP yet.
URL=http://www.drivermagician.com/
Back up the current drivers with Driver magician lite.
CD/Floppy disk/Mem stick.
Then have at it. :)

Majority of the INF files are found under C:\Windows/INF
Even then installing OVER your existing XP the drivers should still be there. Unless you tell it to wipe and start from scratch.

Some viri and spyware programs can be so difficult to get rid of or cause so much damage. It is easier to wipe the system and start over.
If this is the case:
Ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure:
Spybot search and Destroy
Comodo firewall
ZoneAlarm Firewall
(Basically anything but the windows firewall)
Tip: Only run one firewall!!!!

AVG Free virus protection
NOD32 Virus protection (excellent but not free) 30 day trial however.
HiJackThis
IObit360 (Highly recommened and fast!)

Good luck!

Need to reload windows xp on Emachines PC

Yes all you have to do is.........

Turn off the Computer
Turn back on and Press F11 repeatedly when the message "Press F11 to start recovery" is displayed.
The recovery will load and display a menu of options:

Full System Restore (with Backup): This options will move all Hard Disk contents to the "c:\My Backup" directory and install a new copy of Windows. This option preserves your existing data files, however all applications and settings will need to be reinstalled. This option requires 4GB of free Hard Disk space for the new OS.

Alway suggest backing up your data before you do any recovery

Usually the "restore" disk that came with the computer has the operating system. You can probably do a repair from this disk.

When you turn on the computer, it tries to boot but eventually says, non-system or disk error, replace and strike any key when ready. I can't get out of it, I've tried everything..

Your computer can not find the system to boot from.

Which suggests that your BIOS has lost where to look for the system.

Check your BIOS for the correct Drive settings ie A if floppy Drive C if hard disk or "x" if CD

where "x" is equal to CD's Drive Identification.

Then try rebooting.

If that still does not work
then SET BIOS to Boot From floppy Drive A: and ensure you have a bootable Floppy Drive in drive A: and try rebooting again.

If that works it would appear that you have lost you your operating system from your hard drive which will require you to reload the operating system to your hard disk. (Remember to set Bios to Boot from Drive "x" where your bootable source is to reload the operating system)
