It stands for All Field Dynamics. this is the mode you need to use in order to get the dts to work. use a digital input (either coax or fiber optic) from your dvd player and cable or satellite box and run in a.f.d. what it does is picks the best quality sound input a picks what ever mode best works for it. but if you play a cd in your player it will only come out as stereo or 3 channel. so then you can pick another mode of your choice. for movies and tv just leave it on a.f.d. all the time.

How do I adjust the treble and bass on sony str-dh520?

See EQ Mode on page 59 of the owners manual to set the bass and treble for the front speakers, presumably for 2 channel mode. For multi-channel mode there are several pre-programmed audio modes listed starting on page 43 and music mode starting on page 44.

You can select the display mode for the front display
of the SR7001.To select this mode, press the DISPLAY on the remote control or the front panel. When this button is pressed, the display mode is switched in the following sequence.Input Mode ? Surround Mode ? Auto display OFF ? Display OFF ? Normal Mode ? Input Mode Normal Mode: Displays the selected input function. If the function has been renamed using the Function Rename feature (see page 26), the renamed name appears on the display. Input Mode: Displays the input mode set via the Function Input Setup feature (see page 25). Surround Mode: Displays the status of the selected surround mode. Auto Display Off mode: The display is off. But, if you make a change to the unit such as the input or surround mode, the display will show that change, then go back to off after about 3 seconds. I have a Yamaha RX-V465 receiver. Is the newer YDS-12 docking station compatible with this receiver? the YDS-12 seems to accept newer IPods.

Yes, it is compatible.
http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/accessories/yds-12_black__u/?mode=model

It has 2 modes of operation. For RX-V465 you need to select mode B. In this mode it is compatible with YDS-11, which is supported for RX-V465. But iPhone is not officially supported in this mode. But I have found on Yamaha website FAQ, where they claim that iPhone switched to Airplane mode worked well.

In radio mode, all speakers do not work

Radio will default to 2 channel stereo. You will need to use one of the soundfield processing modes to expand. Try using surround mode button to get to 6 channel or pro-logic.

Denon AVR-1403 receiver switched from digital to analogue.

There are three modes (Auto, DTM, and PCM) on the input mode switch, on the main unit, selected by repeatedly pressing the input mode switch.

However, if you have already depressed the Analog button in, on the main unit you have predetermined the mode as analog.

On the remote, the INPUT MODE switch combines toggles for 5 choices, [Auto, PCM, DTS, Analog,
Ext. input]

My guess is that either the input mode switch on the main unit and/or the remote are toggled to analog.
