Maytag dryer not starting

Maytag dryer. About 4 years old. Sparingly used.
It is not starting anymore although there is power to dryer. Similar problem in very first year under warranty stated that sryer may get overheated and shut down. There is something to reset in bak.

Any clue why overheating and how to restart?

Dishwasher fills but won't start. After the fill cycle is complete I can hear what sounds like a 2 second ground hum. This repeats 4-5 times before the dishwasher simply shuts down. I can cancel the cycle and it will drain fine.

You must replace the hi limit thermostat and the thermal fuse.
They come as a set and must both be replaced.
They are located on the heating element.

The dryer wont start and yes, it is getting power. The dryer is not quite 2 years old and doesn't get heavy use. There are 2 of us with sometimes 4, but not often. Not a happy camper at this point.

There has been a lot of problems with the door latch (4027EL1001A) and switch (6601EL3001A) on LG dryers. Almost all of the calls we respond to with a - Won't Start has been these items. Although they are inexpensive to replace, they seem to be designed to fail often! And client take it out on the technicians instead of the manufacturer!

It is the motor winding shorted out which caused the smell. If you still have your old dryer the safty thermal located on the exhaust housing is blown. White plastic with 2 wires going to it. Very inexpensive repair. Hope this helps.

I also had a similar problem with my maytag dryer which is 3 1/2 years old. It was the idler lever assembly with pulley. The part number is 11222607JG and the cost is about $20.00. Hope this helps.

Maytag Atlantis MDG8400AWW Dryer Runs Cool

I had a similar problem years back. It was the ignitor. The ignitor is a ceramic like piece that heats up (glows red) that ignites the gas. Typically when that goes, you will see some white residue build up where it cracked, thus breaking the electrical connection. This thing works like a heating element on an electric stove, but rougher looking.

The part was about $30 at my local parts store. I bought an extra one just in case so I have it on hand. I installed it with common tools.

You can check it to see if you lost connection by using a volt meter.

Good luck.

Does sound like the timer, although the clock is moving, the contact for the heater element is burned out inside the timer, you probably have used this timed dry for your normal day to day use and worn out the contact, new timer required.
