Question about HP Photosmart M425 Digital Camera (5MP, 3x, 1.7 ) Commercial Channel only
Okay, so i can't connect my camera to my computer. YES i'm not an idiot i connected the cord thingy. i put the USB plug into the computer, connected my camera, and then pressed the on button. Ive had this camera for about 2 years, and this is the first time that's happened!!! I dont know what to do.
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

SOURCE: HP Photosmart R 507.
It should not make difference by switching on camera while it is charging. The problem may be in button which you switched on let meknow whether is switch to other options or jammed? One thing You do please remove the battery camera will get off then again place the battery and hopefully if it really hanged the problem will get solved. kindly let me know what happened. Thanks Sangita

SOURCE: Transfer the photos
This can occur due to 2 reasons..
1) Bad USB port: Try connecting to a different USB port and see if it works. If it does then its probably a problem with the USB cable.
2)Bad USB cable: You can resolve this by Changing the cable or by getting a USB card reader. Specify the details of your Memory card and i will help you find a card readr that suits your card..

after connecting your camera, power it up. the computer will then prompt new hardware found and is ready to use. in most cases, the camera will be treated as another disk in your computer (like usb disk). go to my computer and check if there is a removable devices listed. open that drive then you may start to copy and paste it on any folder of your computer.
the camera should also come with a cd, which you may install in your computer.
