My mac book which I have had for more than a year all of a sudden is unable to sustain its wireless internet connection. It begins at 100% and then slowly decreases to 0. Any thoughts? Thanks

Airport cards do fail, it sounds like yours has, they are not that expensive now, so having it changed won't cost an arm and a leg.

At times, a netbook or notebook can create multiple duplicate links to the same network. Each one will diminish the strength of the connection by a little bit and you should clean them out so that there is only one.

Also, it makes sense to use the MAC address on the server side, such that only a netbook with your unique MAC address can connect to the wireless connection. It saves energy/strength if that is your only real security stopper, since like fingerprints, there are no such things as duplicate MAC addresses.

Try making those changes you might just find a cleaner, stronger connection to your WiFi at home.

Good Luck,
-a.

Apple USB Ethernet suddenly not functional with mac book air

I've run into a similar problem myself. The problem could be that there is another device in the area using the same frequency and is causing interference. Try changing the frequency on your adapter. If you've recently added a wireless device and you can't change the frequency on your adapter try changing the frequency on the new device or turning it off to test if it's the problem.
It's possible someone else in the area has added a device that's causing the problem look around for new wireless devices or antenna in the area.

Reset your wireless password/key. Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.
