Just brought a Sony Bravia HX 800 and added a wireless LAN adapter (UWA-BR100) to get Internet TV. After network set up NOT able to access internet. Message reads Wireless device OK Local Access FAILED...

Hi

I got the Bravia KDL-40EX713 and the uwa-br100 I had massive problems getting it to work with a BT home hub. Eventually I found manual setting that work. Firstly I logged on to the router and went the the advanced settings bit, then I went to the DHCP table that shows all the devices connected. I picked an unused Ip address from the range of existing ones being used (this sort of thing 192.168.1.73)

I then used the following settings for the other fields (I don't think the secondary dns setting is right but it still works)

ip 192.168.1.73

sn mask 255.255.255.0

default gateway 192.168.1.254

primary dns 192.168.1.254

secondary dns 192.168.22.23

If the DNS server ip is wrong then you get local access OK but internet access failed.

Hope this helps.

There might be a problem w/ your IP address or DNS server, try to open LOCAL AREA NETWORK CONNECTION STATUS in your laptop running xp, click support/details, Then copy the DNS server address and alternative dns server address.

open your vista go to Network Connection/LAN properties, then double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP, mark obtain ip address automatically, then the lower side Mark USE THE FOLLOWING SEVER ADDRESS then paste the dns server address which you copied from xp laptop. same w/ alternate dns server, and then click OK. DONE.
JUST TRY IF ITS HELP FULL.

I'm trying to configure my Cisco WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point and i cant access the login page to do it. My IP is already set to 192.168.1.# so i thought i would be fine but it still doesnt work

Network settings on your computer
right click on lan network and properties go to ipv4 properties and use the following.
IP address 192.168.1.2
255.255.255.0
router defaut in the default gateway settings (mine was 192.168.1.245)
enter that again in the dns primary (dont worry about the secondary)
plug an ethernet cable to your wireless router and type in the default gateway.
that will get you to your logon page.

hope that helps

Wireless router connection problems

Assuming "cannot connect to linksys router directly" means you cannot connect to a Wireless Lan managed by Linksys router,
1) try to connect new computer to LinkSys Router using a Lan cable, add new PC to your network.
2) recover protocol (WEP or WPA) and Key of WLAN (Passphrase or Key: TKIP or AES) either from other PC on same network either from your Router.
3) If you missed actual key you must connect to router and reset it to a new key to be eventually used for every connected device.
Call for detail on this possibility

Secure wireless connection with WEP but still picks up all wireless connections

If the unit has WAP as an option, use that instead of WEP. If enabling this still does not prompt you for a key, or you don't have this option, check here to make sure you have configured it properly... http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101675.asp

If that doesn't help, check this firmware page and upgrade... http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d103242.asp

Hope this helps! : )

I can't use internet

Assuming that I am understanding your problem correctly, you can connect via your wireless access point, but Internet Explorer isn't working on your computer? Does the problem exist on the other computers as well? It would appear that you have a connection, just no browser. If the problem is simply the browser not working on one computer (your laptop I presume), then download another copy of the browser on a different computer, save to a flash drive and reinstall it on the problem system. The browsers can cache web pages temporaily and stores the URL's to recently visited web pages in the history folder. I also would suggest having more than one browser on every computer because of problems like this. The most popular and sometimes the primary browser used is Mozilla Firefox from www.mozilla.com. Browsers do not resolve the web domain name (URL) This name resolution is performed by a Domain Name Service Server (DNS). Your ISP most likely also has a DNS server and provides the address resolution for your queries on the internet. Hope this helps.
