Question about Acer Aspire 9300-3716 Notebook
My touch pad just stopped working>
I have checked the status in the system hardware and that checks out OK.
There are many possible fixes. To do some forensic work it would be best to know what was going on when the touch pad stopped working. It could very easily be the driver. You can see if that's it in device manager. Locate your touch pad device there and right-click on the device, choose "update driver".
Some laptops, my Toshiba for instance, have an option to configure the touchpad to disable when it senses a USB mouse or keyboard connecting. I have mine set to disable because when I'm typing on the onboard keyboard and I accidently slightly brush the touchpad, it sends the cursor all over the page and usually I lose everything I just typed.
The problem might also be a matter of a bogus setting in the Service Manager. There are a number of services that are related to your touchpad or mouse.
