Try turning the little focus selector knob (just to the right of the screen) all the way clockwise...

I have a Nikon D80 DSLR and want to know if I can use the LCD screen for shooting rather than the view finder

No. The LiveView capability is a relatively new development in DSLRs. Nikon first introduced it with their D3 and D300 cameras, followed by the D90 which also introduced HD video capability.

A small black dot is visible when we use view finder of the nikon d90, i am sure it not the lens marking. is it a production mistake or some thing stick with the view finder but nothing in out side. It...

Does the dot appear on the pictures? If so, this is a dust particle on the sensor. If not, then it is a particle on the focussing screen and really presents no problem.

Nikon camera D300 mirror up/down shutter permanently up

Please check whether the mode dial is on 'Mup' or 'Lv'. If it is, then the camera is on mirror lock-up position (Mup) or LiveView mode (Lv). Mup is mirror lock-up and Lv is LiveView. It could be in Lv mode if you can see the image on the LCD, but not through the viewfinder. If it is on Mup mode, both the viewfinder and the LCD will be blank. If any of these is selected, pressing down the mode dial lock, rotate the dial to 'S' mode.

How to use the monitor as a view finder on nikon d40

The Nikon D40 works as SLRs have worked for half a century, providing a viewfinder for composition and framing. The monitor in the back is for menu settings, shooting parameters, and picture review. Only more recent dSLRs (in Nikon's case, starting with the D3 and D300) provide the LiveView capability.

Sreen on back of camera doesn't show anything. We have to use view finder to aim camera. Any suggestions

You can't use the screen for framing/composition, the D60 does not have Live View.
Only D90 and D300 have it

Back focus

That's not likely to be the camera but the lens. You can actually set a focussing pre-set for each lens you use on the D300. See your manual for more info.

Focus points

you cannot see all 51 AF points in the viewfinder. The purpose for this is not to block your view of the actual view. But the AF points are there. Just press the multi selector button to move the AF points around
