Hi im josh in cebu phils. may i helped you? Friend you need to replace your cmos battery because The most common cause of a checksum error during the startup process is due to a faulty battery which is not providing sufficient power to the motherboard when the computer is off. However, motherboard malfunctions and viruses can also contribute to checksum errors. good luck.

Boot with a Win 7 disc, and choose Repair Your Computer. Then use Startup Repair option. Type bootrec /fixboot ENTER if end up at the command prompt. It does the same thing. You could also run the install from repair.

Bios cheksum error is what i get when i start my pc and the next i see is found drive a: make sure there is a bootdiskette and push enter. but when i do it he do not see my diskette . i do not know what...

disable the floppy drive from the bios if you don't use it. also you need to flash your bios newer ROM file version since your current bios is corrupted and when it compares the original checksum with the actual one it doesn't match, meaning your bios got corrupted.

you can get the latest bios files from your motherboard maker.

Checksum Error after Bios Upgrade K7VZA

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Often, after upgrading BIOS you need to clear the CMOS and re-setup to handle the new features. You should have a jumper to clear CMOS, or you can remove the power from the system and remove the battery for a few seconds to clear it.

Let me know if this clears up your issue.

Cmos cheksum bad

From your problem description, it sounds like a corrupt BIOS and or a failing motherboard.

Due to the system age, I'd say cut your losses, salvage what drives are usable, and get a new (or newer) system
