Question about Denon AVR-3805 Receiver

I have a Denon AVR-488..Can you help?

Sometimes my receiver shuts off and a flashing red light blinks. It doesn't always happen after the same amount of time. I have about 2 inches on either side of the receiver and about 10 inches of space on top and about 6 inches in the back. I think this is proper ventilation. Do you think there is a problem with my receiver? Denon AVR-488 will crackle, Thunder, whine then no sound. This has happened on my 1st AND replacement. Any resolution to this problem?

Denon has released a Technical Service Bulitin about this problem. To fix it, an authorized service center will solder a jumper wire to bypass a connector, which has been shown to fail. It has nothing to do with the settings, or setup of this unit as described in Solution #1. It has to do with faulty parts within the unit. Just call Denon for an authorized service center and it is a quick fix. I have a AVR-488 that had the same problem and was fixed with the help of this bulliten and fix. No problems since.

The two things that makes this happen is the speakers are not connected right in the back or the 2nd zone volume level is to high should be between -20 / -3

Denon avr-1513 shutting off and blinking red light

Sounds like you could have a bad speaker connection. Try disconnecting the speakers and see if it stays on. If so, connect one at at a time until it goes off to determine which one.

Only red light is blinking on my denon avr 1508

It sounds like you overloaded the Denon avr with too much resistence from the speakers. Please check the total resistence of the speakers before you connect them all. Also check that the speakers or their wires are not shorted!

Red power light blinking on my denon avr 1907, tried reset procedure, no speakers hooked up now and it still goes from green light to blinking red light and shuts off...Any clues?

This is a protection mode. The receiver protection circuit detects an internal problem like missing power supply voltage or blown channel and shuts down the receiver. You need to bring the unit to a repair facility.

I have had my Denon AVR-1907 for about 20 months. About two months ago, it started shutting down and the On/Off button blinks red. Almost all the time it would clear by itself for no reason and then work...

You will have to check with a volt/ohm meter the + and - 15volt regulator ics in the power supply if they are off by more then 3 volts it will shut down as soon as it is turned on,and you still will have a flashing red light. also you may want to check the output transistors for shorts if your regulator ics are good.

Sounds like you may be clipping your speakers. Check all speaker connections and make sure they are not touching, at all. If you are not using speaker ends and are simply twisting the wire and connecting to the speakers, just one strand touching the other post will cause this. Good Luck

Shuts off then red light indicator flashes, disconnected all speakers but still wont work

Hi, this is a power board issue. remove the cover and make sure that this unit doesn't have blow fuse. if the fuse is fine, you will then need to replace the integrated power/ main board.

The fans are a poor design the cool the amps inside. I could cook tacos on top of mine. Years ago I developed an external fan the velcros on the rear of the unit. Just find a silencer pc fan from pc power and cooling. Someone will be selling it online. If's a very low noise fan and will not disrupt hi fi output. Attach a plug in transformer to the power wirers on the fan. Make sure it is the correct mV, and amp rating for the fan, and just plug in to the 3300's switching ac outlet on the rear of the Denon. The fan will stick on the denon's outer case on the rear of the unit where there are a few vent holes with velcro. I did that so no warantees were broken by opening up the unit or drilling into the case. I have in instructions if you would them in a document. Just email me at flysortie@msn.com and put Denon Fan Instructions in the subject line. Enjoy, BWA
