Best way to hook up a network printer is to connect the printer to the same hub that the other computers connected to. Go in to the printer menu on the printer and print the configuration. There is an IP Address on the configuration page. After that on any computer hooked up to this network, go to start, printers and faxes, add a printer select local printer, slect add a new port, and type the IP address of the printer and click okay. If the drivers are not recognized you may need to install them by the CD came with the printer or download it from internet. Good luck :)

On the computer that the printer is connected to, go into the Printers and Faxes window, RIGHT click on the printer you want to share and select "Sharing...". After you finish going through the printer sharing wizard, go to a different PC and try to add a printer, select network printer. Make sure that the computer that is sharing the printer is on during this process, it sounds strange to have to mention this I know but you would be surprised. I'll check back later to see how things worked out.

You cant from a network on a USB connection. USB connections are for "local" printers. "add" the Designjet T610 printer to your other PC under "printers and devices" tab. Good luck !

Setting up a Shared Network Printer

Any printer that is connected to a computer and is connected on a LAN can be configured so all other computers on the same network can print to this printer. This means the computer with the printer attached to it MUST be booted up at all times when other computers want to access the printer.
You need to install the printer driver on the computer and configure it as a Shared printer.
The other computers on the network need to add this printer to their computer.
Follow these steps to set-up a shared network printer :-
1. Connect the printer to the computer and install the printer driver.
2. Open Printers and Faxes - right click on this printer and click Sharing - click Sharing tab and click Share this printer, then if you wish you can change the Share name, then click OK
3. Right click on the printer – click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printer installation.
Follow these steps to configure the computers on your network :-
1. Open Printers and Faxes – click Add a printer – Next – select A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer - Next.
2. Select Browser for a printer – Next
3. Click on and expand the Microsoft Windows Network down to the computer with the printer – Next
4. Select Yes for - Use this printer as the default printer – Next – Finish
5. Right click on the printer – click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printer installation.

I have TVSE 240 printer that have parreal port for PC conection, but in my New PC and Laptop this port is not available, how can i use this printer with my new PC and Laptop that have USB port only

With most printers there is a software download for your printer. Download and install the software should walk you through the process. That said, plug in the USB into your New PC and the software should find a driver, i don't know your OS, and it SHOULD work. You may not get the Full fuctions of the printer until you install the Full software for the printer. If this is your printer the software will be found here, in case you do not have it:http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-240/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=win7x64 I do not see that it is wireless? Just connect to the New PC via a USB port in the rear of the new PC. Use Device and Printers on start menu to ADD a Printer. When you have added the printer, right click and choose Sharing, Share this Printer. Set up a Home network on the New PC that has the printer attached. Re-Boot. On your laptop set up to the Home network that you just created on the NewPC with the printer. Reboot the laptop, you will get a network message like Welcome to "your: network. Go to the laptops printer section in start menu and Add a Printer, it will pop up if configured correctly, some changes may be made in Network and Sharing. Now you can print through your network "wirelessly". if you need assistance respond to this post.

I've lost my CD to install the printer to my laptop. What can I do?

Place the computer and printer next to each other and make sure that all the wires are connected to both the printer and the computer.

Turn the computer on and wait for it to boot up.

Plug the printer into the wall and then take the USB cord that is attached to the printer and plug it into the appropriate port on the computer.

Turn the printer on.

Click on "Start menu" and go to the "Control panel".

Find "Printers and hardware" box and click on it.

Take mouse and click "Add printer".

When you see "Welcome to the add printer wizard," hit "Next."

Click "Automatically detect and install plug and play printer" on the add printer wizard page. Click "Next."

Installing the printer will begin if the network can automatically detect it. Otherwise, the message unable to detect will pop up and you will be prompted to install printer manually. Click "Next."

Select printer port. Use the recommended port for best set up options. Click "Next."

Pick manufacturer and printer. Click "Next."

Type a name or confirm name if it appears in the box and set printer as default printer if wish. Click "Next."

Print a test page to be sure printer is set up and online. Click "Next."

Receive a successful completion of installation of printer message. Click "Finish."

What to connect printer to new laptop..

Follow these steps :
•1
If you have you have the installation CD that came with your printer, insert it into the CD-drive of your laptop and complete the installation process.
•2
If you do not have the installation CD, go to the printer manufacturer's website and find the support section for your printer model number. Download the driver for your printer and install it onto your laptop.
•3
Once you have installed the driver and software for your printer, plug the printer cable into your laptop's USB port, and the laptop should immediately recognize the printer.
•4
If the printer you want to add is attached to another computer on the same network as the laptop, you can share the printer without actually adding it. Go to the computer that the printer is attached to. Click the "Start" button, select "Control Panel," then select "Network and Internet" and click "Network and Sharing Center." Click the arrow next to "Printer Sharing." Select "Turn On Printer Sharing" and then click the "Apply" button. Make sure the shared printer is turned on.
•5
Go to your laptop and click the "Start" button. In the search box, type "\\" and the name of the computer with the attached shared printer (for example, enter "\\mydesktop"). Click "Enter."
•6
In the folder that opens on your screen, double-click "Printers." You should see the shared printer on your network. Double-click the shared printer. Windows automatically adds it to your laptop and installs the driver software. Click the "Next" button. The printer is successfully added to your laptop and should be visible in your "Printers" folder.

Use of HPJ4680 in a network with Mac & PC connected to router

Ok what you do is, install the printer as a LOCAL one on one of the PC's, Probably the XP, one, would be best. or perhaps the PC; actually "Connected" to the D-link router & Modem, then Now install this printer , as a LOCAL, printer, and set as DEFAULT, enable Printer Sharing. Now, ALL PC's MUST, have a Name, Belong to the same Workgroup, have a Password. On the "Other" PC's Install the Printer as a Network Printer, browse for it and connect. Print a test page from each. Remember the PC with the printer attached, must obviously be ON or the "Others" cannot connect and print.. Make sure all network permissions are set sharing is set, especially on the Win 7. Just make sure they can all "See" each other first, before try all this.. the network MUST be intact and communicatable from each PC to at least the PC with the printer attached. Unable to use printer over network with Server 2003 64Bit

Probably the best and easiest solution for your problem would be to buy an EDIMAX USB-Ethernet print server, or something equivalent. I have several of these running on the network at work. They're easy to setup and they work great.
