Are you using a laptop? The touchpad is sensative and when the heal of your hand even slightly touches it your curser will move.

When I type the cursor jumps backwards to another area at the beginning of the sentence. Frustrating.

You are probably hitting the touchpad below the keyboard with the heel of your hand as you're typing. I do it myself sometimes, and many people I know who had the same trouble have found that was the cause for them as well.

What I suggest if you're doing a lot of typing is to disable the touchpad and use an external mouse. Then you don't need to worry about the touchpad, and a regular mouse is (at least for me, anyway) more comfortable for extended use. If the touchpad on your computer doesn't have an on/off switch near its top edge, you can disable it through the Windows Control Panel (or touchpad control utility if one is installed).

When typing on hp netbook, the cursor moves around to another part of the sentence, deletes what i've typed...any thoughts on fixing this?

You need to disable the tapping while typing option in your touch pad because your thumb sometimes touches the touch pad which is causing it to move around to another part of the sentence.

Keyboard Cursor Jumping

I have been having the same problem for some time now with my Acer laptop and windows vista.
What worked for me was changing a Mouse setting in the Control Panel.
Go to Control Panel -> Mouse. Then go to the "Tapping" tab and make sure that the "Tap off when typing" box is Checked

Letter writting problems

Do you use a laptop or some sort of keyboard with a mouse pad? My son used to have that problem when he would type as his thumb would accidentally hit the mouse pad and move the cursor. We solved it in a very low tech way by taping a notecard over the mouse pad when he was using the computer. Depending on the manufacurer, there are ways to turn off the mouse pad while continuing to use a mouse.
