If i replace the ecm on my 95 stealth, can i buy a used one or does it have to be brand new

Transmission was rebuilt, new solonoid pack as well as tcm. Dodge dealer said ecm wasnt allowing them to recode. They want me to buy one at 1800 from them but ive already put more money in the car than the car is worth. Can i put a used ecm or send it away to have it rebuilt? or do i have to buy new.

Look up on line, CARDONE INDUSTRIES, they remanufactor these I believe, maybe its the chip, ECM 's rarely go bad if at all, can you find a used ecm,, might need to put in your chip from your ecm. for $100 you might try buying a aftermarket chip , put it in your ecm, see what happens, isn't the chip the brains of the ecm ? buy new brains !

SOURCE: eds skid control activates for no reason.

The problem may be an intermittent problem with one of the wheel speed sensors, if one wheel speed data recieved by the ECU does not match the other 3 sensors the ECU will interpret that as a wheel slip or spin, this will cause the ECU to initiate the traction control.

95 stealth...what else can it be? I bought this car 3 months ago and haven't gotten to drive it yet. It is stuck in limp mode.

Can you pull any errors off the ECU? Do you have the standard dash installed? My Alfa will not change up from second if my dash is not installed.

Can the transmission from a 1991 Buick century 6 cyl be used to replace the bad transmission in a 1995 century 3.1? The 1995 has a 4spd auto. Or, worst case, would the engine and trans swap from the...

No the 95 is a 4T60E transmission. It's electronically controlled via the ecm on your vehicle. The 91 is a TH440T4.and is not electronically controlled. Transmissions are wired different and will not work correctly due to the ecm controller. Ther are plenty of 4t60e trannys. in the salvage yard as they are used in many larger gm vehicles.

How much does a transmission cost? i dont know if you can buy them used or not, or if it would be better just to by it brand new

You can buy them used from salvage yards. From what I have seen though, neither used or rebuilt do much good.A new transmission is always best.Good luck! Greg You can call a couple parts stores or a shop, they will give you a pretty decent ballpark figure.

I have a 2007 lexus 350 and the transmission jumps every morning.Almost as if it shifts to a lower gear. I have 75k miles. My husband says its sliping.

RX350's are are known for blowing trannys.(I work in a Toyota dealer) Id try a nice tranny fluid flush to try and save it with nice new clean fresh fluid. Also check for stored codes in ECU or tranny controle module to make sure it isnt just a bad shift solonoid in the valve body. If the flush dosnt work and it still does it id look into bringing it to a tranny shop and see if it can be rebuilt or it may need to be replaced with a new or used one.... I have seen alot of tranny jobs been done on those vehicles before.

95 p/u why would a brand new alternator fail after about two months?

Hi:
Auto parts do fail, sometimes too soon, But some of the reasons a alternator could fail prematurely, would be if you somehow had a dead battery, and jump started the truck, sometimes the full current draw to charge a dead battery can kill an alternator. An overtightened belt can cause the alternator bearings to overheat too, killing it.

Transmission will not shift into high gear

The honda uses a twin solonoid pack on top of the trans. It has 2 moving mechanical valves thet stick. Either remove the solonoid pack and free up the valves or replace pack. If you have the wheels off the ground pull the plug off the pack while running in third. No power at this pack will make the trans shift into 4 th. If it shifts into high gear you have isolated the problem

New engine for '92 Camry wagon?

a new engine is $25-35,000 dollars(if Toyota even has them) The rebuilt engines are very good. 3 yrs-unlimited miles on repairs/replace engine. Get a name brand engine like Jasper or Atk or BulletProof or Gopher. These ARE Toyota engines rebuilt(sometime better than original) The transmission has evidently been a great one(mine has 185,000 miles).

You've done great on this car. But to replace engine and transmission; you looking labor and parts:$7-8,000. If you fix it, it will last forever, and you'll know it's good.

Or you could buy a certified used Toyota, and buy an extended warranty.

The only other thing is to buy new-$20-25,000 for a new Camary v/6 ( I don't know if they even make the wagon anymore)

I hope this has helped. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Have a 91 Dodge Stealth Coil pack for 3/6 will not fire. Replaced coil pack still dead also tried new ignition modoule and it was still dead any ideas on what could be wrong

It could be the ECU (Engine Control Unit). It's in front of the console under the dash. A new one cost about $900. I would suggest taking it to a repair shop for some diagnostics work. I don't think you want to be swapping out expensive parts which aren't bad.
