Check the a/c unit. make sure you dont have any leaks around your system. sometimes when you have a small leak it will take time to lose out of system. but you may need to charge your unit up again. Also your compressor may be out of service. check and make sure compressor is running

In AC mode the cooler fan doesn't turn on and after a little while the warm air starts to blow instead of cold air. Any ideas

Sounds like a bad or stuck reversing valve. Typically r.vs. are energized in cooling, verify 24 volts to valve, if yes , bad valve

Outside unit will only run for a short amount of time with A/C before the fan stops turning and starts humming, squealing/screeching and the top of the outside unit gets hot.

The bearings are bad in the motor and after the fan runs enough it eventually gets hot, making the bearing screech and the fan locks up. Need to replace motor again. See if it has a warranty. The reason it gets hot is because the fan is what removes the heat from the coil and if the fan isn't running there is nothing to cool it off so to speak.

I have 1994 Chevy Lumina 4dr 3.1 Multi Point, Front W/D, F1, 6cyl. My air conditioner was blowing warm air @ 2mos ago & my husband added freon & a/c began blowing cooler air but, not as cold as...

You have a Freon leak because all the fittings, seals, coils rubber, compressor seals and entire AC system will need to be checked out by someone that can find the problem and resolve them or you will never get this fixed. A/C in cars get hot in the summer and cold in winter and all the seals dry out. The system needs to have all the air and moisture pulled out before any Freon in charged into repaires A/C unit or the system will not cool properly. That is the only way to resolve this Tammy, Thanks Sea Breeze

Cool air coming from the vents in the front but hot air coming from the back. What do I do to stop the hot air so that the room will cool down?

Hi,
The hot air is a product of the cooling.... if you stop that then the unit will not cool!!!
You need to buy an exhaust kit to vent the hot air outside so that it will cool the room.
Otherwise it is just what is called a spot cooler or in other words you are cool if you sit in front of it, but it actually will make the overall room temp. hotter!!

I moved into a place that has a MasterCool Evaporative Cooler on the roof. The ownstairs is quite comfortable so I really only need to cool the 2nd story.... it seems as if all the cold air settles...

jbrown - Hot air rises, Cold air falls. If you have ceiling fans upstairs, turn them on to run counterclockwise at highest speed you can stand. Make sure all the windows are closed upstairs. The ceiling fans will help to keep the cool air upstairs and pull some from downstairs.

If you don't have ceiling fans, invest in a box type fan that you can place at the head of the stairs (that's the top of the stairs) run it on HIGH and it will act like an exhaust fan, by pulling cool air upstairs. It may take a while, but it will help cool the upstairs to some degree.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

HOT AIR BLOWING INSIDE THE HOUSE

I know there are not that many sites--very few--that cover the informational guidance on the maintenance and technical difficulties of evaporative coolers, and so I feel compelled to share with you this very good, but rare, handyman site that does:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Coolers.htm

As you'll see, the link above has a section dedicated to evaporative coolers.

As to your specific problem of your cooler's blowing hot air, yes, the humidity is listed as one of six (6) possible causes of this cooler problem. To find out whether the other five causes are applicable to your situation, here is the direct link to the diagnostic article on hot-blowing coolers:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Coolers_Cooler_Does_Not_Blow_Cool_Air.htm

You should be able to review this article, and, one by one, determine what causes listed therein are not affecting your cooler in order to ultimately end up with one remaining listed cause that is the likeliest cause of your cooler's failure to blow cool air into your house.

This should help.

Good luck!

Brad
