Question about Vizio VO47L 47 in. LCD TV

Black showing as red on LCD

I purchased this TV on January 5th and it worked great at first. A couple of weeks went by and one morning I noticed that some of the screen that should be showing up black in color was a bright red( all other areas of the screen were normal). I turned off the TV and the next time I turned it on the red had gone back to black and everything was fine.

It continued to work perfectly for awhile after that, but then the problem showed up again. Again turning it off for a while, then turning it back on had fixed it for a bit. It then began happening more and more frequently, at which point I called in to tech support. I was told to do several things including resetting the picture mode through the menu, and unplugging the set and holding the power button down for 25 sec.

None of these suggestions have worked, and now the problem is happening 100% of the time, even after turning it off. The problem occurs on every input of the TV (cable, dvd, hdmi, ect...) I am becoming very frustrated with this, I purchased the TV only a month and a half ago and already there are major issues with it.

I am having the same problem with Vizio SV470XVT. I bought it from Costco in January 2009. I am trying to rule out cable wiring issues (signal strength). I have it hooked up with HDMI cable. I replaced the cable and tried different HDMI ports, but it didn’t help. I also have an e-mail into Vizio tech support.

Same problem here too. Bought the tv February 5th. Sounds like this is an all too common problem.

I have the exact same probelm! What is the solution???

  • junque4sale May 20, 2009

I have been trying to get this problem solved for over a month now. Vizio sent a tech out to replace the board about a week and a half ago. Approximately a half hour after the tech left the RED started back up again. I called Vizio back and they issued a replacement which arrived today. I have my fingers crossed that this replacement TV will work properly. I will let you know what happens.

Vizio 47" same problem. Where the color should be black, it is instead red. Call Vizio. Did the troubleshooting...going to return. TV was purchased 5/2/09 from Sams.

Our 2 week old 47" LCD 1080 Vizio tv from Costco shows moving red highlights in various places (like a weird LSD trip?), at times it shows at times it is not there and all is well for a while. Called our cable provider, and called VIZIO, went thru both their rigamaroles (ie: shut off, hold power button on set for 20 secs, restart, etc.) and still see red highlights in various areas! Might have to have a VIZIO repairman come out which is an inconvenience...or return it to Costco, another inconvenience with having to re-box the huge thing, carry it out the house into the car, etc...
What does anyone out there recommend? THANK YOU!

I have the same problem with the Vizio VO47L LCD TV I purchased from Costco on 28th of April. Problem started out as red replacing black areas of the picture about 2 weeks ago. In the last few days black areas will sometimes turn green instead of red. I have friends and relatives that own 37" and 42" Vizio LCD TVs and have had no problems at all. I've notice from researching online that most the 47' Vizio TVs with problems have been purchased from Costco??

This is a LVDS cable issue. All you have to do is call Vizio and they will send out a tech and replace the LVDS cable along with the Main Board. This should resolve the pixilation issue.

Return the tv for an exchange. It is so early into your warranty period.

I had this problem as well. You need to either change or just re-connect ribbons and cables connecting LCD and motherboard.Simple as that

The TCON board or the LCD panel is faulty. Can confirm by replacing the TCON board.

My samsung 550 plasma will not show a screen with I turn the tv on, stays black. I have to cycle power at least 3-4 times before the picture will show up. Once it does, it seems to kick in and out of HD....

Unfortunately although Samsung make great screens they do have a big problem with power supplies. The one in mine went 3 times before I replaced the screen. We have a lot of Samsung's at work and we replace 5-10 power supplies per year. If it's under warranty it'll be done at no cost otherwise you're looking at around $250 (Australian) unfortunately.

Not even a red light when the tv is off. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago and by some miracle it started working again.

I have a 32 in lcd ilo tv that want come on.

Yes I have the solution, I watched my 32 inch ILO tv and turned it off went to bed and when I got up the next morning it would not come on. So I got out my receipt, called Wal-Mart they would not offer me any help I had purchased this T.V. in December of 2007, since this is January 09 it was just by days past the year mark and Wal-Mart also informed me that they no longer carry this brand due to this problem, I called the company but they more or less laughed and said that it sounds like your going to have to pay a repair bill or purchase a new T.V. So I am a single mother with no extra money, especially 1 month after christmas. There is a fuse on the T.V in plain view, when you slip off the back of the T.V.on the right side, it costed me a hole $2.50 to purchase at my local auto parts store, works like a new one. The fuse was burt black, so this was a cheap and simple solution. Also Beware this rep from ILO also told me that there company makes Manavox, and Zennith so if there making them beware!!!!!!!!!

Samsung lcd tv ltm1755b won't turn on (power light stays red)

Problem: Samsung LTM1755B with only a blinking yellow LED when you try to turn it on.

Solution: I just had one of these come in. I opened it up, and found the U501 capacitor a little suspicious looking, in that it had a deformed top. It was a 470uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 12mm. I replaced it with a very good quality 1000uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 16mm Nichicon UHN1C102MPD. After that repair, when I tried to turn it on, the LED was yellow for a second, then green, then I got a picture, and it appeared to work great. I then asked the owner a week later how it was working, and they said it was working just like new!
