Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

My Sansa stopped playing videos and voice recording

I was recording something once and I guess I recorded too much and it froze when I went to save it. Then when I'd restarted it, all my voice recordings are gone. I can still press record and it'll work fine but it just won't save them when it says it does. Then a little while later, I put several videos on my it. I unplugged it from the computer, and was able to watch them fine, then I turned it off for an hour or so to eat and when I turned it back on all the videos were gone. I tried reloading one or two videos and unplugged it from the computer and it still said there were no videos on the player. What can I do to fix this? Some people said to reformat it but I'm not sure how or if that's what I should do.

I have tried reformating it several times both by right-click format on my computer and adding the text file called sansa.fmt...it fixed the recording but the videos don't work. All my music and photos weren't erased and are working fine. The recording was gone since last september/octoberish and video has been gone since about last christmas...so I don't think it's just frozen.

You should not reformat the player unless you want to clear the mp3 player completely - erasing all music, recording, and other files completely.

Once you are done recording, the Sansa takes time trying to save the recorded files - it appears that it is freezing, but give it some time - it is just "thinking."

If the recorded files suddenly disappear, it is because the Sansa player has two modes - MSC mode and MTP mode. Files that appear in MTP mode will not appear in MSC mode and vice versa. If the recordings do not show up, go into your settings menu and switch the USB Mode.

How do i play back a recording i've made? I have the Sansa m200 series MP3 Player

To play back a voice recording, you will need to do the following steps after turning on the player. Press Power/Menu briefly to get the software menu. Press the Repeat/A-B/Down button to highlight the line Play Music and press Select to enter the play back sub-menu. Press the Down button again to go to the line Recordings and press Select again. Use the Down button to highlight a particular voice recording and press Select to start playing the recording.

The manual for the Sansa M200 MP3 player is available as a PDF from the manufacturer here: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/241 . The details for playing back a Voice Recording are on page 23-24 (24-25 of the PDF). You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual.

I hope this helps.

I have a sandisk sansa m240 mp3 player i found but the screen is busted. I figured out how to do everything without the need of seeing what was on the screen, except how to record stuff.

This will probably be impossible without a screen, but here are the steps:
The Sansa Fuze has a built-in microphone allowing you to record your own voice, an
interview, or a speech.
To start voice recording, follow these steps:
1. Press the Home button to return to Main Menu.
2. Select Voice from the Main Menu.
3. Select Record Now.
4. To pause the recording, select Pause.
5. To stop the recording, select Stop.
6. Select Yes to save the recording.
7. Press the |<< button to return to the previous menu.
