We just purchased a Bowflex Treadclimber 1000. After 10 seconds it stops and flashes E1. Does anyone know anything about this?

My niece just spilled a chocolate malt on the treads. As soon as we noticed we stopped it, unplugged it, took the sides and back plastic pieces off, cleaned the ice cream, and let it dry a bit. Now it has been a day, runs for about 10 seconds and get "E1" error code. We know there has to be a simple solution, what needs cleaned or replaced, does the computer memory simply store that something happened, and not let you use the machine till you spend $300 for a repairman to come out and push a reset button hidden inside...lol. Any help would be very appreciative. I'm not afraid to fix myself. contessantony@hotmail.com

We have the same problem, though nothing even spilled on our machine. It will run for about 2-3 minutes and then stop and indicate the E1 error. Help!

MY TREAD CLIMBER STARTS THEN STOPS AND FLASHES E1 ACROSS THE SCREEN

This is probably a faulty speed sensor or the speed sensor is not plugged in properly. Its also possibly a faulty motor control board or lower board. The error codes will differ between makes and models but could be e1.

You must concluded if the inclination motor is faulty or Main Motor Controller Board is faulty.

My bowflex treadclimber goes slow/fast/slow again and stops. It then shows an E1 on the display. What can I do to fix this? I have no directions for trouble shooting. Also, should I be able to speed...

The speed sensor is not connected correctly. There should be a jumper wire that runs from the speed sensor over to a harness by the control board on the other side of the machine. There may be a second jumper wire connected to nothing, only used in the 3000/5000 models. There is also a wire that comes from inside the treadles that isn't used on the 1000. The current assembly manual available from bowflex online seems to explain it better.

Error Code E1

I had the same error message E1 at 10 seconds according to the LCD display on an older Treadclimber TC1000. I called Bowflex 1-800-792-6784 and first thing they told me was to check the drive sensor on the back left corner of machine. It is two wires connected by 2 white connectors that snap together. The end of the sensor has a rubber cap that is supposed to be approximately 1/8 inch from the drive pulley. The rubber cap plugs into a small hole within the "firewall" of the drive pulley, but the end of the cap does not actually touch anything. They can email you a picture of it. If it ever gets knocked loose, the machine will register this e1 error, in some cases- hope this helps.getattachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3d3d2f2ee0-2668-46ea-b32c-db049d56cb37.jpg%26ct%3daw1hz2uvanblzw_3d_3d%26name%3daw1hz2uwmdiuanbn%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dfalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253aimage002.jpg%254001c99c08.13bd6320&oneredir=1&ip=10.12.128.8&d=d6608&mf=0&a=01_0b590aaade5e800af268d347750ab151eca93264be20cd9ce2166e583b18cfe9
