the Ec message is reffering to the mode the tub is set for. Ec stands for Economy mode. In Economy mode the heater will only come on during the filter cycle you have programmed. It will take a while for the tub to actually heat up in this mode. Change the mode to St mode which stands for Standard mode. Your manual should explain how to do this. usually you hit the temp button then the light button to change from mode to mode. Once the St is in the read out window don't touch anything and it will except the programmmed entry automatically. In the Standard mode the tub will keep heating until the set temperature is reached. then it will come on every half hr or so to check that the temperature is maintained.
So I assume you have pressed the button by pool to select the pool thermostat? If this doesn't work sounds like another mother board problem, or try powering down the unit a few minutes then restart. IF you haven't pressed the pool button, the read this: The heater comes factory set at 78° F. for the pool mode and 100° F. for the spa mode. If it's in spa mode it's trying to get to 100F. Using the up and down arrows, you can set the thermostats to a minimum temperature of 65° F., or a maximum of 104° F. If you desire to heat only one
body of water, the thermostat is capable of an off mode. As an example, if you only wish to heat the pool and not the spa simply depress and hold the spa down arrow, and the thermostat will lower its setting to 65° F. then go to an off mode. If it has motorized valves the stop positions have to be adjusted so that the water coming back is equal to what it drains to stop the spill over process unless you want to add more valves but the pool pump does the job of heating and filtering the spa
hello, It sounds like you may not be getting circulation thru the heater. Make sure the valves are open to allow water to pass thru the heating system. Some systems use a bypass on the heater so there is not a lot of wear on the coil system in the heater. If it is not circulating it will get too hot and the safety shut down will occure. If you are getting water circulating thru the heater, then the thermocouple or auto start igniter system is not working correctly. It is trying to start and can't then recycles. If the burners are igniting on the startup and then shutting back down you may have a bad control unit or thermal sensor unit. Since the unit is gas have a professional service it for you. Good Luck, RAC
