PLEASE help me! I have the same problem. My drivers are ok. It's just that it says there is no internet connection, contact my Systems Adminstrator (whatever that is). My desktop runs thru AOL if that helps. But I just bought this laptop very recently, used the Linksys wireless router and I thought that would be it, but it's not.

Thanks in advance for your help! Laurie

When you try connecting, what messages are you getting? Is Windows able to detect wireless networks at all?

I run windows xp, the computer should pick it up, if it doesnt pick it up go to control panel and add hardware, if windows doesnt have drivers, find a computer with internet access, and research for a driver.

I would like to know when it say laptop with built in wireless. Does that mine i already got internet service on it. Or i have to buy USB modem.

Hello Blac,

All the laptops available in market have built in wireless 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth® wireless networking. It means that you can access the internet via Wi-Fi or through Wi-Fi hotspots. In wireless connectivity you do not require the wired connection to access the internet. In home you can connect the laptop via wireless connection using the home networking router available in market. The advantage of wireless connection is that you can use the internet in your home anywhere with in 100 meters of range with proper wireless signals. You will require to get the internet connection from the ISP(Internet Service Provider).

The issue might be due to corrupted wireless drivers. Uninstall and reinstall the wireless drivers.

Trying to set up wireless laptop. Instructions tell me to input

The wireless connection device on a computer is used to connect to a wireless router that is connected to the Internet via an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and or to your home or the network where you work. You can also use it connect to a wireless hot spot (like an Internet cafe) for Internet access.

Your computer will need a wireless device either a built-in wireless card, or a PCMCIA wireless card that plugs into your computer's PCMCIA slot or a USB wireless device.

If you want to connect into the Internet wirelessly in your home, you need a wireles router that is connected to a cable modem or a DSL modem and to a ISP.

The wireless router needs to be configured (change the default settings) the SSID and encryption (WEP or WAP, WAP is a stronger encryption method) etc.
The wireless card needs to be configured with the same settings as the wireless router so it can communicate with the wireless router.

For configuration information refer to the wireless router and wireless card/device manuals.
Whilst the settings of these devices are similar between the various manufacturers, the methods they use to configure varies and you need to be precise in giving make and model of the devices, your Windows system and computer to assist us to give you detailed advice.

I have a acer aspire 5315. I bought a D Link dir 615 wireless internet router. The problem I am having is that I can connect to the router, but I cannot connect to the internet. What is the problem?

Hi the router has not picked up your IP address.follow this Turn off your wireless router and internet connection and your laptop aswell for 30secs .Then first turn on your internet (if seperate from the router) if not switch on the wireless router/internet hub and wait untill the lights stop flashing then switch on your laptop and that should work.

Wireless internet connection

First step - Enable your wireless hardware by switching it on some models have a separate switch or with the keyboard

Second step - Check your wireless zero configuration service under adminitration tools ->services is running or its managed by another software supplied along with your laptop - enable it. one only works at a time.

third step - go to your network connections choose wireless connection and right click properties double click on Internet protocol TCP/IP and see there is any IP manually inserted change it to automatically obtain IP address

Four step - Open your Internet Explorer and enjoy wireless internet.

Note. Some laptop required to create profiles prior to connect to wireless but from your post i hope your laptop is not one of them
