Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

1 Answer

WBR-2310 only connects to internet wired to pc nothing else

I have XP SP3, WBR 2310, Bell Sympatico wired DSL. I can connect to the internet with the pc through the router successfully. Trouble is I want to connect my xbox 360 (wired) to the internet as well. Xbox does not connect to the network when plugged to the router. I can use the same cable and connect the xbox to the internet directly to the DSL. DLink pushes issue off. I also can not connect wirelessly to my Wii, the Wii sees the network but is unable to connect even using the password. Basically if I don't use the router and just plug and unplug the cables everything works fine, but this is not useful when we both want to be on the internet. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted! Thank you very much, Julie~

Hi ! the router has a built-in firewall. you just need the port numbers for your devices (from your device manufacturer) and open them inside the router.
you can ask assistance from dlink tech support at 877-453-5465. just an advise on how to handle the call when you reach dlink tech support (agent); do not agree to call back after you troubleshoot with them (they'll be giving you a case id reference# and be advising you to check your pc or call "who" and call them back to continue the troubleshooting). insist to the agent that he need to resolve the problem asap (by the way, agents are not allowed to drop the call or they'll be dead-history!). and if the agent still insisted you to call back, ask for a "senior level technician" to finish the job (escalate the problem).
fyi: dlink tech support handling time to resolve a call is 15 to 18 minutes only. if you reach that 15-18 minutes (max) time the agent will think of a way for you to call back (advising you to check with your pc manufacturer, check with your ISP, call microsoft to update your software, etc... non-sense!) they need to do this in order to reach their handling time (agents need to reach 21 to 25 billable calls, and billable calls are "solution provided", "resolved", and "dropped call"). ---- believe me, i was one of them and repented ....

Will the WBR-2310 work with my wireless internet service. I don't have DSL or Cable or Satellite. I have a wireless service from a local provider.

Hi,

YES but you need a computer which will bypass your internet service from computer to router and then any wireless computer or any WAN enable device will access internet.

Share your wireless internet to Ethernet and connect with cable to router. WAN is now working.

But remember to configure your WLAN Router.

Wbr-2310 error 112

Check your physical connection first. From the modem, it should be connected to the router's Internet port, then your computer must be connected to port 1 on the back of the router. Then do a power cycle, no need to run the setup CD. If it doesn't work, you need to manually configure the router. You may need assistance from D-Link tech support. Call their toll free number

If you're Bell sympatico is a wireless modem/router and your laptop has built in wireless on it you just need to connect to the wireless signal of the Bell sympatico then that should be the time you can access internet with the laptop, But if your Bell sympatico is only a plain DSL modem you need to get a wireless router that will share the internet to your laptop and desktop so you can roam in your house with your laptop here is a sample of wireless router Linksys WRT54G.

Hope that helps........

D-LINK WBR-2310 SET-UP

Sounds like you need to 'copy' the mac address of the computer it was orginally hooked to before and put it into the router. Some routers have an option to do this in the settings menu of the router with one click.
