To fix the HDMI AV cable issue just do a manual video reset. When you power on the PS3 hold down the power button until you hear two beeps then quickly remove. If you have other problems I would suggest doing a System Restore under Settings.

No communication between PS3 and TV

try geting a new hdmi cable or a new av cable and plug it in turn on the ps3 let it sit turned on for a while and a message should pop up saying it has found a hdmi or av output witch ever you are using and it will ask you if you want to use it as the ouput to the tv and then you will select yes. if that dident work your gpu (graphics processing unit) has over heated and you will have to send it to sony or take it apart and reflow the prosesers and gpu

Hi, My ps3 used to play avi files and now whichever one i use it ownt play( eve if it played it previously) its pauses and a small clock appears in the bottom left hand side of the screen. I dont...

1) Reset the settings on the PlayStation 3 by having the unit turned off, then pressing and holding the power button on the front of the unit until you hear it beep twice (shouldn't take more than 7-10 seconds), then release. All of your settings will be reset to the factory defaults, and you can make adjustments as needed.

2) if you are streaming the avi files from a media center via wifi it is more than likely a connection error try hooking up your ps3 directly with an ethernet cable to your router if possible this should fix the problem

My ps3 has a problem reading all disks i put in, the spinning icon appears at the top right of the screen but nothing happens, this also happened when I tried playing a demo I downloaded

Hi there,

If your Ps3 has trouble reading all discs, then the lens could hardly read them due to it being dirty. Try to use a disc cleaner and let it spin for like 30 seconds. If this does not work, you need to manually clean the lens opening the casing and removing the screws covering the lens. Get a cotton swab and damp it to an alcohol. Gently wipe the lens' surface and let it dry. Then return everything back and try playing those dics again.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:

1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep

After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.

Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.

I wanted to post my success. Best of luck!

TV Screen Flashes

Hello!
As always, I suggest you get some canned air and blast it out from the front and sides. Just use the air holes that are on the machine. That way all of the dust build up can exit in the back. Also, check all your cables and revert back to your manual. Something on your TV stand may be interfering. If all else fails, then call Sony and get a box sent to pick up your PS3. I'm seriously out of ideas on this one. I hope this helps!! Good luck.
