Help Installing network adapter for dell inspiron 8600

I wanted to return my dell to the way it was when I first bought it so I inserted the installation disk. Now it is not working nearly as good. I am trying to connect to the internet but it is telling me that I have no network adapter. Please help.

tried that, says it's not there. Went to dell and installed the 1394 Net Adaptor and Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller and still it shows under other devices that the Network Controller is not there. Options are: Update/Disable/Uninstall.

If you just purchased this recently and are retuning it, don;t worry about conecting to the INternet.
Just sxend it back. The Dell techs will do a complete refresh of the sytem before they sell it as a refurb unit, so don;t sweat this.

You need the driver for the Network Adapter. There are two ways to get it: Dell normally also supplies another disk that says "Drivers loaded on your system". But the best way to get the current driver is to go into device manager. Scroll down until you see network adapter. Click on the "+" to open it and right click on the device. Then click on install drivers. That should do it...If you have any questions let me know.

Hi, you can use the windows xp driver from here:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4M_8600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

As long its 32 bit system you are running.
The driver does not exist for windows vista.

You maybe have to find the name for the
wireless adapter in the device manager.

Select network and download the driver.

Hope this will help you.

Dell Inspiron 8600 Wireless connection driver Problem

I would check network connections in your control panel first and make sure your wireless connection is enabled. Next I would go to System in control panel and then go to device manager and check to see if the drive for the wireless is installed. May want to try here for the Driver download.

Hi, i have dell inspiron 8600. It is working at 600 mhz but the processor speed is 1.6 ghz. The intel speed step utility is also enabled in the setup. Kindly help

The Intel SpeedStep Technology dynamically changes processor speed to help prolong battery life. If you want it to run at 1.6GHz all the time, you will have to disable it in setup.

Can't connect to internet after reinstalling window-inspiron 8600

Use a computer that is connected to the Internet, then download and copy the drivers on to a CD or USB menory stick and install them on your computer.

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Chng internal wireless adapter from 11Mbps to 54 Mbps

The 802.11 protocol is for wireless adapters. If your is 11MBs, it is a b card. Buy a g or n card to achieve the 54 MBs you want. Be sure to uninstall the b card and software before you install the new card.

Good luck, and please let me know how this works out for you.
