replace the axle seal to replace pull the rear cover draining the gear oil then rotate the carrier around till the small bolt holding the carrier pin remove bolt pull pin out don"t turn carrier after pulling the pin push the axle in and remove the clip from the inside of the carrier that pin holds the axle clips in place after pulling out you can remove the axle then just pop the seal out and install new one use a socket or something that is the same size as the seal lube the axle and slide axle back in lift up when almost all the way in the tube putting it in the carrier once in replace clip and pullout on the axle thats it pretty much hope this helps you out

This is a very common problem with IBM and Lexmark Wheelwriters that have not been serviced for years. Solution: Get some 10 weight machine oil, 3 and 1 oil is ok, but (DO NOT use WD-40). Locate the main carrier shaft,that the carrier travels back-and-forth on, and lubricate it on both sides of the carrier, then wipe with a cloth and repeat. You can move the carrier by hand with the power turned OFF. Teke care to not drip excess oil into machine, or better yet. Lubricate the cloth and wipe the shaft then apply 2-3 drops on the shaft when finished cleaning.

First check for debris under or around the carrier, the put a little light oil on the silver shaft the carrier slides on WD40 works well) if that dosen't work and there is a squeel on tab of return remove the case and oil the carrier motor bearings at the rt. rear corner of T/W.

Lifting Capacity: Provided the weight of the breaker does not exceed the maximum lifting capacity at any position, the carrier is assumed to be stable. On most loader backhoes and excavators, the maximum lifting capacity is lowest when the boom is at full reach. This is the value that must be compared to the operating weight of the breaker. Oil Flow and Operating Pressure: A required oil flow range is specified for each breaker. Oil flow to the breaker within this range is adequate for operation. However, for maximum productivity the carrier should be capable of providing the maximum required flow. Compare the maximum oil flow requirement of the breaker with the oil flow capacity of the carrier. Remember the breaker operates at 1500-2500-psi. therefore, oil flow should be evaluated at operating pressure.

rub your finger across slider bar big silver rod that the ink carrier rides on if it feels dry turn power off then lubricate the slider bar with a lightwieght oil like clipper oil or 3 and 1 oil.
you apply a couple of drops to the top of this bar then turn power back on this should cure your problem
