I have brown hair and want to do highlights. I heard there are different types of highlights for brown hair. Is that true and if so what is the difference between them?

This shade has deep, rich red tones which are more subtle than in shades labeled auburn browns or reddish browns. This shade will be good for most complexions since the red tones are subtle. They do run the risk of turning into purple tones.

This shade has a tendency to run very dark. it could look black and possibly have accidental purple tones. Do not use this shade on hair lighter than medium brown.

I'm assuming you are a brunette... I am too and this happens to a lot of us when it comes to dying our hair. Most brunettes have natural red or sometimes a dark blond highlights so there for when we dye it it will come out two toned. Everybody's hair has some type of natural highlight. However if you were to have blond hair and went straight to a dark brown it will actually permanently stain the hair causing any further dying is to be expected. Try dying your hair bases darker than the second tone. Next time try a cheasnut brown paying extra attention to the known areas of discoloration. Hope that helps hun

Your hair is turning green because your missing red when you color your hair. Gray is uncolored hair and to get to a dark chocolate brown you need to add a little red to the color to make up for this. You don't need to strip it out.

Have you heard of people using purple shampoo to neutralize the yellow tones of their blonde? Red will neutralize the green tones, so adding a little red to your color will do this for you.

It depends on your hair strands ..Usually it takes me 3 months to re-dye my hair.Maybe wait for couple of days to prevent damaging you hair.

Whenever you go from a very light color to a dark color, you need a "filler" to make the dark color look right. The med brown color you used can act as your filler. Wait a couple of days, then put another med brown color on your hair. If your hair is is good condition, that should take care of your problem. If that is still too light or too gray, use a temporary color (one that lasts 6-8 shampoos). These are not so harsh on your hair and can be applied more frequently until your hair is the color you want. Once you get it to the color you want, you can just apply the med brown when it is time to color your hair again.

Just make sure you wait a few days between treatments, because your hair will become too porous if you color it too frequently and it will become damaged. There are other types of fillers you can purchase from a beauty supply store or website (like Sally's).

The Dark natural is the best choice but when your hair grow they are naturally grey or white, the show a great different that look odd sometimes. Try one tone down in darker shades.
