I'm trying to scan a document w/ a Canon PIXMA 310. We recently changed computers and might be missing a vital piece of software. I tried to scan to MS Office Pic Manager and to Paint. Neither has an...

What OS are you using? Do you have the full software installed, the Canon driver or the OS generic driver? If you plugged in the USB cable before installing the Canon software, you probably got the generic driver which doesn't run with the scanner. Uninstall the driver and unplug the data cable; then download the software from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx310#DriversAndSoftware (select your OS) and install it. Try a new data cable and different port. (Scanning requires bi-directional communication and can fail when the printer works.)

Paint (in XP through Win7) should work if the computer recognizes that the device has a scanner. File > Import from Camera or Scanner. Check your hardware listing. (For Win7 Start > Devices and Printers; older OS versions may have the list under the Control Panel.) The printer might show up twice if installed correctly.

I hope this helps.

I've recently attached my iP6700D to my home network. 2 different Laptop computers can access it and successfully print from it. One , a Lenovo is using Windows 7 OS operating system, while the other...

I would highly suggest moving both computers on to the same operating system having two different os on a network is always more of a head ache than its worth for the most part however if you have you heart set on this particular configuration you need to go into your printer setting before each print session to change the configuration as from what I see the printer does not have any additional software to help it understand the two different print modes. If for some reason neither printers are working atm I would suggest making sure all connections are hooked up properly and than try hooking the printer up directly to each computer to find out where the problem lies also before doing this visit this website to ensure all your drivers are up to date is has a link to the most recent driver also make sure you download and install the right drivers as per OS requirement ie. windows 7 vista xp

hope this helps
please leave feedback
thanks

HP 520 Notebook. Shuts down before installing new OS.

I agree a clean install is always the better, fresh start J
OK it sounds like missing drivers, what you have to do is create a new installation CD that will load the drivers for your laptop as it boots. I haven’t try this method with windows 7, but I know it works well with Windows XP. Try and create a new Windows XP CD with the drivers see: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/35/
The start a new installation with this Windows XP CD and reformat you computer, after that you can do a new upgrade to windows 7

You may have downloaded the incorrect driver. I would try using the driver directly from the manf. website. You can find the download here: DOWNLOAD

I can't modify "screen" output in Photoshop CS4 extended

it sounds like you need a driver update for your printer although the most recent seems to be for earlier OS on the website. I would contact Epson and see what they can suggest if you want to continue to use this printer. I think though that you may have to consider printing to PDF format as a step you may have to accept.
