The lid closure interlock is not satisfied; it's located to the left of the open button (a tab on the top lid should hit the switch when closed)

When I open the dvd lid, and I put the dvd in and close it, the screen still says its open and it wont do anything until the dvd lid is closed. Even though I close it, the player still thinks its open.

There is a mechanical switch that is operated by the lid as it's closed. Sometimes, a DVD player such as yours can be made to work by pressing down on the lid but this is a sure indication that something is wrong with the switch. It isn't practical to hold the lid down for the entire time you're viewing a movie so repair or replacement is the only solution

The portable dvd player isn't spinning the disc and it isn't reading the disk it comes up with saying no disc even when there is a disc in the player

it could be that when you close the lid it does not press the switch that start the motor.
if you see the disc spining maybe the laser head is not clean
or the main board is broken
If you want to fix the portable DVD write to me , doron_c21@yahoo.com

Says open on screen but door is closed and movie wont play

The switch that detects whether the door is open or not could be defective. You can locate the switch by the notch on the disk lid and where it inserts into the base. Try triggering the switch by pocking it with a paper clip while the lid is open. If it says that it is closed and the disc plays then the lid isn't closing securely. If it still says the lid is open after you can hear or feel the switch click then it may need to be replaced.

I have a Tru tech portable dvd player model no. 12701C, and i cant get the lid to close or the dvd player to read the disk i believe because it turns on and just says "Open" on the screen...the dvd inside...

Unfortunately, if the lid will not close properly, there is nothing you can do to fix that. Furthermore, if while holding the lid down the unit still shows "open" on the screen, the unit definitely needs to be repaired or exchanged. If you're in warranty, contact the manufacturer or the extended warranty company for the procedure you'll need to follow.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Will not play the entire DVD

your dvd reading head is out of sync open the lid hold the button that is pressed when the lid is close now with your finger move the head till the screen say's no disk that should be right to the center place a disk in and hold the button with your finger and notice a red light under the disk rotating pressing the next of fast forward button watch the light go to the outside of the disk . it should go right to the end without making a noise and read the entire disk if not keep moving the head till it does . your problem should be fixed there is no other reason to read only a part of the disk other then the disk it self is dirty.

Cover fordisk holder is broken

You can trick the player into thinking the cover is closed and still play DVD's.
Open the lid and notice the small button on the top right side. Pressing the button will simulate the "lid down" so the disks will play.
You can even see the cool red laser when there is no disk.

Coby TF-DVD7100 7" portable flat screen...keep getting "Wrong Disc" Error

I have seen this problem on several Yamada & Xoro brand DVD players. If you remove the lid after powering down with the disc tray closed and a disc in it you may well find the ribbon cable to the read head is rubbing on the disc. The ribbon cable is held to the base of the box by a sticky pad under a 45 degree bend in it and a piece of sticky tape !!!. Power up unit, open disk tray, power it down, retape cable to base securely with small strips of duct or gaffer tape (using tweezers helps) and hey presto it will work again. The cable rubbing slows the disk spin speed hence "data read error" unit assumes "bad/faulty/wrong type of disk". All that technology screwed up by using a cheap bit of tape in the factory assembly, amazing eh !.
