We have an Onkyo TX-SR502 and hooked our ipod up to it using a stereo mini to 2 audio cables. However, we can only get sound out of one side of speakers now. If we switch the left and right audio plugs the other side of speakers will then work. How do we get the left and right speakers of A and B to work? The A and B speakers are both selected.

I pods use a different adapter for doing this. It plugs in the bottom using the big porton bottom and outputs the rca plugs this way. Ipods see too much resistance and protects the unit from burning out. check this out http://www.amazon.com/Logic3-iPod-RCA-Phono-Cable/dp/B00083D7WC

How do i hook up mt ipod

To hook up your ipod to an a/v reciever you need a stereo mini to male rca cable. You plug the mini side into you ipods head phone jack, and the male rca's left and right(usually red and white colored plugs) to an auxilary input on the a/v reciever.-Example, tape, aux, sa/cd.
Change the input on the reciever to correspond with where you connected the ipod
Ensure the ipod is powered on and playing with the volume turned up.

Use a phono to RCA stereo jack (pic below) and hook one end to the head phone jack on your ipod and the other ends to your amplifier aux or tape input and adjust the volume to low on the ipod - select the input on the stereo - Aux or tape in.
You'll need this type of cable

Onkyo receiver fried after hooking up to pc

I am not used to count colors or numbers on wires, but what you did is that you created an oscillator, by hooking up the output of the receiver and ran it through your computer which inverted the phase, so the thing oscillated and committed suicide. Onkyo used to make some good impact printers, before the modern inkjet came around. If your unit is within warranty, don't hesitate to go where you bought it and ask them to re-imburse you. Receivers don't blow up just like that, because someone hook a wire wrong. One of the specifications is to check just that: phase reversal and oscillations...

Can I connect an ipod to Onkyo tx-ds595?

I connect my iPod to my Onkyo using a stereo cable with mini-plug on one end and RCA L&R outs on the other. Just plug the RCA plugs into the AUX or TAPE IN on the Onkyo, and the stereo mini plug into the iPod and play as usual.

Hooking up ipod

THe easiest way to hook an iPod or any other personal audio player to almost any audio receiver is to pick up a cable having a stereo miniplug (like the plug on your earbuds) on one end, and two RCA plugs on the other end. You should be able to get this cable from almost any electronics or discount store for under $10. The miniplug goes in the iPod's earphone jack, and the RCA plugs connect to an unused input on your receiver. Inputs marked "AUX" or "CD" are a good choice, or even a "TAPE" input. Set the iPod to about 3/4ths volume and adjust the receivers controls for desired volume.
