Ge oven bake button does not work

I have ge JTP20 electric wall oven. When i push the bake key nothing happens. All the other keys work. i put in a new electronic control assembly, but the bake key still did not work. the baking element in the bottom of the oven works, because when i turn it on to self clean, it gets hot and the cleaning cycle works. I'm thinking that maybe something is wrong with the keypad? Should I try replacing it?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

By process of elimination and the description in your post, the keypad would be most likely. Additionally, there should be some error messages/display/code if the baking element is not working, thermal sensor is out or anything non-functional. The electronic control assembly simply does not sense that there was an input from the bake key, hence bake key faulty. Since it is one unit, pls replace the keypad.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Check if there is a fuse for the baking element.

If it is the fuse, both elements will not work, and wont do self cleaning, therefore is not a fuse.

If the Element is fine and heats up on self cleaning this restrict the problem to the control board, or the control panel. Replace the control assembly.

I would. There aren't that many other components that it could be and you can always just return the part if it isn't the problem.

I don't see that exact model number listed. Check the model / serial number again. If the unit is not too old, you can probably get a replacement key panel which should solve your problem.
