TV to stereo problem

By Rogers - usenet poster

" "
I have the audio-out RCA jacks on my TV hooked up to the auxilliary
audio-in connection on my all-in-one stereo (an Aiwa - retail around
$160.00). They are hooked up with 24 foot RCA cables (they are across
the room from each other). I am not happy with the sound quality of the
audio recordings I make from the TV. My question is, If I move the
stereo closer and connect it to the TV with 6-foot wires, will it make
any difference in sound quality? Thanks.

Keep moving the stereo across the room until you reach the window- then push
it out.

with 24 feet, the capacitance of the cable will limit your high
frequency response. Make the cables shorter.

I doubt it. TV audio outputs are not exactly HiFi.

If you have a cable box with audio out, try that.

Digital cable is great. Has good sound.

Hello friend:

You asked:

Shorter cables most likely will not make a difference. Many TVs put out poor
audio signals; that is very likely your problem.

It _might_ be a problem with those w??y to long wires (3 or 4 feet is O.K.),
at the other hand, what do you expect from a cheap stereo set, even my
cassette deck is 3 times the price of your complete set!

I doubt it will make any difference at all. Assuming everything else is
OK, the limitation is probably the Aiwa's tape deck--that's my guess.

Do you have a HiFi VCR, perhaps? You could use that as a sound recorder
and most likely get much better sound quality. HiFi VCR sound quality
can be excellent.
